does that include tepid water?

  What works, works.
I find a reaction threshold of around 120 degrees F, your experience may see things differently. "Thermal stirring" typically tops out in equilibrium at around 90 degrees F with very few problems. Start where you finish, pretty much the same thing, only a bit faster at the start due to increased conductivity without adding impurities where it matters the least.

  Heat makes contaminants more reactive.
A fresh batch has both, more free tasteless silver Ag[+] Ions and bitter OH [-] Anions.

Maybe this is what I am doing wrong. Because I have it set on reverse polarity, it does take quite a long time. Maybe I should set it on direct current and warm the water perhaps. How do you warm the water? I wouldn't have thought microwaving would be a good idea, but then neither would a saucepan would it? It is a little bitter as you say too, but then I thought that was because it was fresher than I am used to. I do rinse and wipe everything with distilled water though. Many thanks. Dee

I have found that my batch has a yellow tint if the time is to slow and the taste is usually bitter...in my case it was because the water was not that warm ...I find that 12 ppm with out a starter should take around 3 hrs with pre warmed distilled water ...also I use the same batch jar always ...for 3 years now ...and tap water to rinse will guaratee me a yellow batch ...even if it is wiped ..I always use alcohol to clean if I feel it necessary ...this may help someone ...
