I also have the SG-6, and I make mine in 2 qt. pickle jar,
so we're pretty much on the same track.

I think the reason you get better results with the bubbler is
that it simply does a better job of stirring in that large container. The
little stirring device was intended for a 1 pt.
jar, and IMHO is not really very good even at that since it
just thrashes around without creating a flow through the DW from top to
bottom. I use a piece of polyethelene tubing that goes about halfway down
the jar and split the
end and shaped it into a propeller shape like a ceiling fan.
You can shape the tubing by dipping it in boiling water to soften it and
then hold it in the shape you want while it cools under the cold water
faucet. It will retain its shape.
I get almost no sludge on my cathode, after several hours of operation.

I found that I lose about 40% of my initial calculated ppm
in the first 24 hours. After, that it seems to be pretty stable
at about 5-6 ppm, and the Tyndall Effect is very, very
slight I also have been getting a lot of crystal "sparklies".
Not sure what to do about that, if anything. I just let it
settle and siphon off the cs. If anyone has any thoughts about that, chime
in.
