I knew I could use the extended escutcheon, but for aesthetics, the customer, and I, prefer the semi-recessed. This type would give me 1" to 1-1/2" below the ceiling and hopefully, I would be far enough from the soffit. Plus there is ductwork in the soffit which will make it difficult to get pipes around. The floor to deck dimension is only 8'8".
