For what it's worth, the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association confidently asserts that a sprinkler system can be expected to protect a property without major upgrades for 30 - 40 years.

That said, we have several major buildings in London where there are operating installations dating from the late 1920's. There are also several mill buildings in the north of England which have working installations which were installed before 1914 but which will have been altered and upgraded over the years.

We are aware of one installation in the laboratory oif a paint factory in Bolton which was installed around 1930 which successfully extinguished a fire in February 2005.

Here is a question I was asked today:
"Where can I find a list that indicates the Estimated Design life for a fire
suppression/sprinkler system?
What say ye?
