Ken,

I don't have 13 at home. I've gotten more used to the '07. I think it's moved
way back in Chapt 21 in that edition.

Yours,

Bruce Verhei

Subject: Linen/Trash Chutes - Missing?

OK guys and gals,

I don't want to raise a panic, but I think the requirements for linen chutes
and building chutes in the '02 edition have disappeared. Anyone with
information that leads to the safe recovery of said code reference we'll
receive a reward. I will name my first born after you. (Darn kid only has
about 53 names already....birth certificate is going to on a 30" x 42"
sheet)

But seriously (for just a minute), we found it in Chapter 5 in the '99
edition and we found it tucked away in Chapter 21 of the '07 edition. I am
starting to believe that goblins or POD people removed it from '02.

Is the vertical shaft section (8.14.2) supposed to have taken it's place.
Cuz I like them thar rules. If that is the case I am liking them rules. Top
and bottom have a nice day! (Our situation is an old non combustible linen
chute in an existing hospital) Not an easy install.

I am thinking that maybe it just made a comeback appearance in '07 and will
likely take the 2010 edition cycle off to right a "tell all" of other
peoples dirty laundry.

Any which way...does somebody know where this is in 2002?

As a bonus questions....why did they get rid of the detail of the shield for
the linen chute sprinklers in presumably '02 and '07 editions. Perhaps a
change to NFPA linen chute manufacturer's requirements?

Best Regards,
