My comment was a joke. I have dealt with engineers who think that regardless of the concept if the AHJ approves it then it's all good. I have explained the responsibility to design that which is compliant with applicable codes and standards and the liability issue oft times to no avail.

The condos connect to the walkway via a "bridge" to the front door. There is dirt below the open space and could be 5 stories above to the roof/skylight. He also wants a sidewall head in the unit over the window that looks out to this area.
