Once I designed a school where the library had an area that sold t-shirts,
books etc. The engineer insisted it had to be designed for OH2. If the area
is very small, you can space the heads in the area for OH. Then do a light
hazard calc, but increase the gpm so that you will get 0.2 density in the
"mercantile" area and use 100 gpm hose alowance.

Just my approach.

Thank you.

If you can't get under the curve because of hose allowance, then I'd have
you provide OH II for the room and reduce the hose allowance to obtain a
safety factor.

I don't see many projects where 29 gallons make an impact. On the few that I
do see we have allowed a reduction in hose demand in favor of sprinkler
protection. Most fires at sprinkler protected buildings are out by the time
the first responders arrive and no hose demand is needed for suppression
activities.

Let me elaborate.
1) we can make it work either way but there is an impact.
2) it is already installed improperly and we are correcting the head
installation (incorrect sidewall orientation and spacing)
3) I would usually assume OH2 in a new install and never ask a question.
BUT, since this one is tricky I thought it a good time to ask the question.
