Thank you, I even checked 2006 IBC and all I could find was section 711 / 712 which was talking about rated walls.
Thanks again. Bobby Gillett Sr. Project Manager Key Fire Protection, Inc. We have a state fire marshal that likes to see sleeves in all block/concrete walls and I had brought this up before we started the project to try and remedy it. They said they would be willing to look into the requirements, instead of what they usually ask for, and admitted it may not be per code but they have always just asked for it. I expressed that 95% of the walls are not rated and it would be unnecessary. We are supposed to talk more about it tomorrow and I just wanted to be prepared. When we pass through a block wall, non-rated (smoke, fire etc.) we plan on providing clearance or a flex coupling within a foot of the wall on both sides of the wall. Does it say anywhere we have to use sleeves for block walls? We will be using Sch. 10 & 40 pipe as well as CPVC. I can't seem to find anything other than NFPA 13 - 2007 9.3.4.3 "Where clearance is provided by a pipe sleeve.." But nothing requiring one. Thank you in advance.
