I have only been vaguely following this thread - would you post your system
hardware/software version again?

I seem to recall you have some sort of Newertech upgrade card. Have you
tried using CPU Director to disable speculative access ... I've heard that
having it enabled can sometimes cause these kinds of problems and the
Newertech software doesn't allow you to turn it off.

Are you using Quicktime 6? I had major problems with it freezing my machine
(at least with OS9.X) so I un-installed and went back to QT 5 - everything
was fine again.
