Another possibility is if you have a G3 upgrade installed it could be confusing the installer. If that's the case, try putting the original 603 processor back in.


Sorry I am late in reading this.  Our c600 shipped with 7.6.1.

Hotmail, did you find and install an Apple CD drive, or are you trying to use the original one that came with the UMAX. Early versions of the OS would not install using the stock UMAX CD drive. You needed something like FWB's CD-ROM Tool Kit to get the machine to boot from an Apple software install CD.

You might also need to launch Drive Set Up (should be in the Utilities Folder) and format the Hard Drive so it is recognizable.
