You have reasons. Unlike Latin (and Mark is perfectly correct about Latin grammar), English is a living language and changes over time. I personally prefer 'virsuses' (the word), as this is used by Trend-Micro in their newsletter, and it feels correct to me, too (not cool, but that is a matter of opinion).
