Interesting thread. Even though I don't really have much to do with UniVerse these days, I still enjoy reading (and learning from) these forums.
I've been a long time user of both UniVerse and SQL Server. Developed many things using one, the other or both db's as data sources. I would say that if your a Java shop, go with UniVerse, if your using .Net go with SQL Server. It's just too easy to work with data in the .Net Sql Server world.
