Ackshully, it was Budd Hopkins who first was criticized for extensive use of hypnotic recall, ("Witnessed" the case of Linda Cortile (Napolitano)). But, then again, Dr. John Mack used a similar, although somewhat far-eastern version of hypnosis.
John, G-d rest his soul, also believed, much like you, that abductions were not totally physical. He thought it might be only the spirit that was abducted.
