git is not needed for this, all you need to do is go to the util/po dir
and type 'make wmgenmenu.pot'

That will create a wmgenmenu.pot file (you need to have 'xgettext' installed
on your machine) with the strings to translate. Edit this file, rename it to
es.po or fr.po and send it to the list in the body of the email as a patch, 
so I can apply it to the repo with your authorship etc.

The most important strings to translate are things like "Restart Window Maker"
and stuff like that. Program names like "xterm" you can leave untranslated
if you wish.

I think that's it. I can edit the configure.ac to add the new supported
language in the current line supported_util_locales="de".
