Look at Volume 30. That is the same as Volume 75 today.

That's about 24dB attenuation (they mark as 75%). That 24/6 = 4Bits of
attenuation.

He should not lose any dynamic range since he only attenuated 4bits.
Right?

But the dynamic range isn't 96dB is it? It's 88.

He lost MORE than 4bits he lost 6Bits (out of 20bits) !!

The first 4bits are supposed to be free right?

That test shows it's not free. Even as little as 24dB (4Bits is not
free not even close to free).
