Has this not always been the case , but even then in th old days Sean Adams sometimes popped in to argue some sanity , he had after all designed the transporter . It is a pity that the many new users don't realise that the audiophile section is a kind of twilight zone on this forum and things spoken here rarely connects to reality . And yes the Touch works fine as a high end digital transport right out of the box (and the odds to hearing any difference in controlled circumstances are astronomical and probably down to defect audiophile grade hardware in many cases ) , it deserves to be mentioned every 10 posts or so , but still you sometimes see newb post where the first thing they do is modding it and possibly also breaking things and gets stuck instead of just enjoying the music . That said triodes work to enhance the compatibility is great , there are after all many USB dac's of good quality usually designed to be used with computers around , in the computer environment the async usb makes sense as good enough quality spdiff may not be present at all . So people have these dac's an want to move over to squeezebox from computer streaming great now they can so Triode has again extended the market for Logitech as he have done with so many of his plugins especially the spotify plugin . But if your dac have multiple quality inputs why bother ? and in to many cases it is actually the USB input that is not good . I do like equipment with options , there can't be to many in or outputs some day they be usefull , how many have not been stuck with a receiver with to few digital inputs or similar . As of now EDO seems a little bit to fiddly to be included in the default firmware as it requires some user setup and experimentation to get going not exactly plug and play and in some cases you need external hardware in the form of a USB hub . So it is understandable that it is an optional install ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94855 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
