Of course you can add the (boiled and cooled) extract later. You could consider your beer just a huge starter, and the extract stuff the real thing ;-) Alternatively you can accept the thing as it is - it will be beer anyway. That's the nice thing about home brewing, if you don't get your beer infected, it will always end up as beer, (almost) no matter what you screw up.
