I'm sure the job was not posted "for blacks only"; the job description probably did not say, "seeking a black man to do x. White men will not be considered." THAT would've been racism. The only time AA probably kicked in was when they had 2 qualified candidates, but of different races. Had there been no other qualified candidates, then your Father would've gotten the job I suspect. Also, the hiring manager may not have liked your Father and told him the AA stuff just to avoid coming up with another reason.
