So you can say that maybe in academics the system is stacked against women, but you can't admit that it's stacked against non whites...whether on purpose or not of course *wry grin*. >I think that's a good point, but the question remains - >where are the women complaining about it? >If they exist they're certainly not organized. And you also admit ignorance of the numerous women's movements that fight very hard to make a change in society and in the job market. -Gel -----Original Message----- From: Gruss Gott That being said there is a point in favor of your side of things: For example, to get a top professorship an average woman would have to forgo having children. This is because that career track will take most of her time until she's in her late 30s. Now, granted, this is her choice, but who says the system needs to be set up that way? It was clearly designed around men who don't have the same liabilities when it comes to having children. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:145440 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
