Interesting question... I was just making the same argument (on another list) for CF vs WiTango (replacement for Pervasive's Tango).
Tango was/is (approximately) DWMX, CFMX/JRun and a pretty good RDBMS all rolled into one --- with the ability to develop web and desktop applications on/for win, Linux, Mac. Perspective is a funny thing!
