Robert's fears are legit. Everyone has to make their own choices. As far
as doubts, I think it's easy to see where Cisco is superior... it's not so
much with the hardware (like a Foundry, Juniper, or Nortel), but it's their
involvement in the protocols & views toward customer service. Heck- does
anyone know that Cisco purchased the Token Ring rights from IBM (stuff like
that) ??? We all get paid somewhat advanced salaries to be "Johnnie on the
Spot" or the "Go to Person." It can be trying, but it can also liberate
from situations that an average employee is forced to deal with their entire
career. If an employer becomes abusive, fails to make a stable work
environment for their workers, or ignores current pay scales, they've all
but offered their IT help to leave. I worked for 10 years, before getting
into IT & only once was I successful in leaving a company for a better
opportunity... & never was able to write my own ticket like I am today.
