Hi Malcolm,
Some plugins offer functionality that I consider to be out of the scope of
the main codebase. These take a lot of time to develop and test, and
charging for them allows me to support that development and also contribute
something back to CE.

There are no questions about the future of the CE platform: it's
MIT-licensed, which means anyone can do anything they want with it
(basically). I don't plan on charging for it or changing the license in the
future, but even if I decided to, you could just fork it and continue
developing it as you wish. You can even repackage and sell CE if you want.

Will other community members be able

Absolutely. I wish more people would. I know there's demand for a search
plugin and a 'members-only' plugin, but I just haven't had time to get to
them.

No; none exists. It'd be a good thing to have, and I consider it part of the
overall (lacking) documentation effort. HELP!

Thanks,
Bruno
