PETE, THE WAY YOU SUGGEST WILL HELP REDUCE SHOCK COOLING SOME.  YOU SHOULD
BE 
CRUISING HIGHER THAN 2000 RPM TO BEGIN WITH TO HELP MIMIMIZE PLUG LEADING.

ANYWAY THE CARB HEAT SHOULD COME ON LONG BEFORE YOU ARE OPPOSITE THE
NUMBERS 
FOR IT TO BE OF MUCH HELP WITH REAL CARB. ICE IT TAKES TIME TO HEAT UP ALL

THE SHEETMETAL PIECES.  I WOULD SUGGEST ADDING CARB HEAT WHEN 2 MILES OUT
ON 
THE 45 TO DOWN-WIND.  IF Y0U ARE IN WEATHER CONDITIONS SUBJECT TO CARB
ICING 
AND ARE DOING TOUCH N GOES THEN DON'T PUSH THE CARB HEAT OFF UNITL AFTER
YOU 
REACH FULL THROTTLE ON THE "GO" PORTION.  DO CHECK WITH THE AIR FILTER 
ELEMENT OUT FOR A GOOD SEAL OF THE CARB HEAT FLAPPER.  I REPAIR ONE ABOUT 
EVERY WEEK THAT IS LEAKING BADLY.  THE LEAK OF HOT AIR ALL THE  TIME IS 
REDUCING PERFORMANCE AND NOT GIVING YOU ALL THE CARB HEAT YOU MAY SOMEDAY 
NEED.  I TOO, SUGGEST CARRYING 1200-1400 RIGHT TO THE STRIP./TOM COUPE
