OK...I think someone stated that the beehive has been kicked, and I agree...this is probably getting blown out of proportion.
First of all, I mentioned in personal email to dave that your old email address had unsubscribed...and this happened the day after the latest coupe Capers came out with your editorial in it. Since it was critical of things that the ercoupe web site owners have been doing, it was not a leap to decide that you were writing us and our contributions off. That's my mistake, and I apologize. As far as volunteering for web building, I think there must be a misunderstanding as well, as my offer to help build a web for EOC still exists. From personal mail you had sent me and the editorials you have been writing, I believed you were not interested in my help anymore. I'm not interested in glory (and I certainly don't want to run a national club! I am supremely unqualifed for that!), I just want to have as much good information as possible out there for Ercoupe, as I think that is to the common good. In the past 6 months, a bunch of us decided to try and make our web pages not duplicate information and be more complimentary of each other...which is why my pilots link goes to Dave's Pilots page, and my service link goes to the Service page maintained elsewhere. One of the problems with the Internet that has been run into is what to do when you have information which costs money to distribute by a traditional means (aka, in paper). Should you charge for that information by the Internet when it costs nothing to have up there? What is best for the community certainly is to have as much information accessible as possible, without destroying the EOC and its membership. We should be able to work this out without getting into turf wars or pissing matches. I think that perhaps what makes sense would be for Skip, Dave, and any other web heads out there who want to participate to take this discussion off line and stop the public diatribes. Skip, I apologize for this getting heated...but I also would appreciate that you stop editorializing about the Internet and our efforts while we try and sort this out. I feel that I need to get a few things straight. (1) I did not unsubscribe from the net...wonder who put that out and why??? I only changed my screen name to Coupeclub. Why would someone pick up this thread ?? And who has such knowledge of who is and is not a member??? (2) I asked for help and or volunteers to set up the web page in print and here...NO VOLUNTEERS, Tom was aware of this from the first time I came online. (3) I do not own the Ercoupe Club...It is a nonprofit corporation owned by the members...not me. I serve at the pleasure of the members...I can be replaced ANYTIME and NOW might be a good time...Any Volunteers?? I really don't know what this is all about...I don't even know the people who are so vehement about me. What I was trying to do was to get some idea of what, if any interest was out there, not to start some kind of flap! The only thing that I can figure out is that these two fellows are mad at me because I would not turn Club data over to them so that they could post it on their pages for their own GLORY, which seems to be what this is all about...who can have the best web...and who can be Top Dog, well go to it! I will serve the MEMBERS of The Ercoupe Owners Club as I always have. If the MEMBERS want a new Executive Director the by-laws provide for this and I will GLADLY STEP DOWN! I would like to thank those of you that took the time to reply in my behalf. I have been away this weekend...helping Carolyn get Coupe Capers ready for print. I just found out about this tonight. I think that I have made my position clear on this matter and thank those of you for your understanding. As far as I am concerned the matter is closed.
