Rather than trying to standardize/certify/professionalize the entire sysadmin industry why don't we instead start with some tiny piece of it? For example, let's all agree to learn and use the NATO (aka ICAO) alphabet. It sure is handy when you have give commands over the phone or tell your Dell service tag number to tech support.
