There is very little functional difference between the two, except
that the 5i20 has more pins.
The 7i43 is available with 400k FPGA, whereas the 5i20 only has 200k.
This is not an issue for step-dir use but limits it for some of the
more complex firmwares. (which you probably don't need).
If your PC has an EPP parallel port I would normally suggest the 7i43
as it can be easier to cable and is rather cheaper. For higher
performance in a PCI format I would suggest 5i23.
