Ah, I see. KSFO indeed has seen a couple of late submissions. Yet I'd
be surprised if three or four additional buildings would really make
such a difference, especially since most these late additions don't
come with any XMLifiled animation.

It depends on from which end you choose to look at the snake :-)
First I'd say there is very little room for change on the 'backend'
side. Preserving the ability to update/fix/replace an individual
building/landmark in the Scenery (plus a few more reasons which affect
maintenance of the collection) makes us stick with individual models.
Yet I we're certainly not tied to using AC3D as a geometry file format
and XML for the animation, people are just having the habit of
submitting these for 3D models.
But there's still a long way to go until things end up being loaded
into FlightGear. Some sort of 'compiler' could be chained into the
queue, either on the Scenery distribution side, or, as another option,
integrated into FlightGear as sort of an integrated proprocessor to the
tile-loader.

Oh yes, let's invite ourselves to Durk's home and have a nice developer
meeting :-)
Cheers,
Martin.
