If you are wanting to simulate a GA aircraft, the easiest way would be to
use a full screen 2-D panel, and set /sim/rendering/draw-otw=false so that
the outside view is not displayed.

I think there is already a full-screen panel for the C172, but I don't
know what state it is in.
