3090 was first generation with PR/SM facility.  CEC could be PORed in PR/SM 
mode or 370 mode.

4331/4341 had a dedicated 3278 with extra buttons and LED's on keyboard, could 
also be used as operating system console.  3083/3081 had dedicated 3270s one 
mounted inside 3082 processor controller.  3090 had dedicated 3180 displays for 
system control.   9672 had first linux based HMC.

4331 had integrated disk and communication adapters built in, no 3274, 3705, 
3880 controllers required.  Later machines just had parallel channels just sort 
of built in,  not really on cards.  3090 was first with ESCON
