I guess I'm spoiled, it's the price tag that turned me off from even checking the trial disk, when there are so many free alternatives!

Go and have a look at the quicktime tours for iWork (both Keynote and Pages) on Apple's page: http://www.apple.com/iwork/

Maybe the program isn't for you, but it must be said that iWork doesn't really HAVE any competition: what it does is pretty unique and the free MS-Office clones (or even Office itself) aren't really in the same league. For $79.99 for the pair, it's a steal.
