I've always hated a position like that.

ISPs always hate horrendous mail abuse.

When I buy Internet access then
*that* it what I buy. Why would my ISP dictate what I can do with it other
then not using it for illegal purposes (spam, virus etc.)?

When you buy Internet access, read the TOS. Just because you pay, doesn't mean you have infinite rights to services.

 At home I have a
756/128kbit ADSL line that I use for whatever. I have specifically selected
an ISP that will not interfere with what I do and not block any ports just
because they like to.

These criteria are exactly the same for a spammer. How do you distinguish and credibilize yourself to other Internet mailservers as being legit?

To bad if you realy want to use your internet connection, that's not what they are there for. :-(

read the TOS. While nobody likes any restraints on their infinite freedoms and rights, lawless and wild Internet, lead by badly abused victims like AOL, is imposing credentials. If you can't meet the credentials, you can't play.

btw, what exactly what you do if your ADSL IMail box were receiving 20K abusive msgs/hour for days from other ADSL susbscribers?

Get mugged once exercising your infiinte right to walk down a dark street of Internet at 3AM and then tell us how you like it and what you will do to protect yourself.

Len
