I am not talking about 2GB files here at all. You can have 150MB and
say 10 mailboxes and wait a good 4-6 minutes for the list to simply
show up in web mail. These are 5ms Seagate Barracudas on Adaptec 160
series double wide SCSI with 2.8 GHz machines with 1GB ram. Load time
on these exact same setups with 5.x was roughly 2 seconds. Load time
on 8.x is 4-7 minutes. 5.x blew away 8.x on speed. Sorry, Len, it is
not at all a must to take 4-7 minutes if it was 2 seconds on the exact
same mailboxes before. There is most definitely a design issue here
with such a large discrepancy. That's why most of my web mail users
think I should go back to 5.x. A product up-grade on an exact same
machine should not be 8000% slower... The only here change was the
upgrade except we actually went from 2.4 GB processors to 2.8GB
processors. Everything else is fine, but web mail crawls. This is also
with the 'fast' Classic WebMail templates. Ipswitch says a large new
hard disk will fix this. Earlier it was said this was a lame
suggestion. I agree.
