well my info about problems with activa machines does not mean it is not
video, i reposted that because the user did not state video card in use,
plus he seemed to say he tried many differant video fixes.
in addition some i b m machines change the keyboard, add extra keys and stuff
like that.
these keys are sometimes for one of their lotus products.
so i b m activa is one machine i tell blind users to stay away fromm, in fact
i tell sighted people to avoid them.
plus they do other stuff, the person who had the problem, got good tec support
from i b m.
but it took several days, i think their was 3 differant modifications he had to
make.
with that said newer models may not have any of these problems.
this industry changes over night.
i can only report based on history, and about 90 percent of the time history
gives the user the fix.
i am not saying activa is not of highquality, only saying that i like a system
to be as generic as possible.

by the way it may be the video card, and all people have 30 days to return if
they buy from a place that does not charge a restocking fee, if it does not
work take it back.
get one that does.
i would never suggest that any blind person expect special service, just the
service that the company policy allows.

or custom order a compaque pro signia and ask for a matrox video card.
those video cards do work.
this line is designed to compete with gateway and del systems.
it is all phone orders.

one more point, thinks for the tip on the address, next time i shall send it
privately, though the person in question has a business with his e mail
posted for all to see on his web site.
