A bit off topic. Some time ago I've read about write protecting a hard disk. This was done via tweaking with the IDE cables, if I´m not wrong you just cut one of the cables, insert an on/off switch an voila!!! Problem is... I can't remember where I have seen that!!!!
Does anybody knows about this??? It would be perfect to have a "write protected" hard disk!!!! There is one other effect you may be missing, depending how you are generating your floppies: formatting. You must insure that the extra space on the 1680K disk gets formatted before you write an image to it, or that portion of the disk won't work reliably. Most LRPers seem to regard the write protectability of floppies as a necessity, and learn to keep regular backups.
