There should be no major difference between 1680K and 1440K reliability. Both formats use the same number of tracks, and the same bit-density. The only difference is the inter-sector gap. The gaps are sooo big on 1440K, that you can sqeeze the sectors together a bit and get three entire extra sectors per track, which is where the difference in size comes from.
