After install there was a file minirc.df0 which I copied to minirc.dfl and
that didn't make any difference.  I get the same output if I run minicom
-s.  The output is:

Minicom WARNING: configuration file not found, using defaults
No termcap entry for linux.

I know the cable works because I used it originally set up the switch
using it on a windows box.
