I think you said it very well Garth. No more needs to be said because
Charles is using information (I suspect not gleaned, but copied) from a
source which he neglects/refuseds to cite. I'm certain he feels it is
correct but taking that path is not helpful to the truth and knowledge
requires, as you correctly state, broadening one's perspective and
sources. I'm willing to listen and to read his theory (which he says is
not a thesis/which means he is convinced of its truth) if he would name
his authority so we can judge based on the premise and the authority - but
no such information has been forthcoming of provided as previously
requested. That is in itself a negation for any premise he hoped to make.
The common mistake of those who believe they have discovered the truth is
to ignore all the rational evidence and just favor theories which might in
their mind support their false premise - because it is the one they were
looking for. It is not unlike cherry picking the information to go to war
with Iraq. It isn't honest nor progressive. A more revealing question to
ask might be, "Is religion nature or nurture?"
I can't tell you how many times I have tried to make a point and after
all of my research have reached a contrary position and have had to then
qualify my first position or change it completely. It is very, very
important to include all the facts and all the knowledge. An informed
assumption cannot be made by throwing out opinions without the
associatiative data which lead to those conclusions. Otherwise the
conclusions are not valid.
Charles is trying very hard to convince us but he makes the mistake of
assuming everyone comes to a subject with the same degree of understanding
and doesn't bother to explain how he got there - or who said what (his
secret sources?) to him to influence that view --- or did it come to him
through some kind of supernatural, thus inexplicable, revelation?
But, when he said he is "the voice of god" there is no confusion or doubt
that his view is a crackpot idea or ideas.
Hank
P.S. You must notice also that his tirade has nothing with the topic in
the above subject line.
