Malcolm

I have noticed on the initial startup screen that whilst the
FUJITSU Hard Drive and the LITE-ON LTN526S CD rom gets
mentioned, there is no mention of the 3.5" DISK DRIVE, Also,
the 3.5" drive light doesn't appear to illuminate at any point during
the startup process even when i slap a disk in ( not a QL disk
admittedly).

This doesn't sound right to me ! perhaps this is a problem !

Neil,

It would be useful to you if someone with a similar hardware setup sent

you a copy a simple boot file that works enough to load you up on the
computer.

Once you have access, you can then load the "boot" file on your QUBIDE

hard drive to see what it actually contains.

Usually the "hanging" occurs when something cannot be found that the
boot file is asking for ... like a "win1_dir_file" of some type.

It is then the wrong device being called on, e.g, "win2_" being called

rather than "win1_". Or the file type being called is not where it is

supposed to be on the device or sub-directory.

The safe way to edit the "boot" file on your hard disk is to put a REM

statement at the beginning of a line that you may not require, rather
than just deleting it. This way you can easily get it back in use if
need be, later.
