indeed, i have put a LOT of thought and time into these questions, so
much so that the author of Bliss asked me to write about my strategies
for tagging, which was nice of him to do. i ended up writing 13 pages
and i barely covered the basics, and i frequently said thru-out that i
didn't know for sure about this or that, or i was new to FLAC or
whatever...

i think Gary, you're basically like me, you want to K.I.S.S. and to me
that means one approach to cover all apps/devices.

to that end, i put AA tags on everything. i see no practical reason,
none, not to do this. frequently AA tags will = artist tags, but you
can use whatever value you want, which to me is where i want it sorted,
(and the AA tag works to sort the same across almost any app/device).
by doing so, you also defeat the automatic mandatory SBS VA detection
logic, (that i dislike), which always detects something is a comp if
there is even one mismatch on an album, and no AA tags.

i use TPE2 for AA for mp3s, and i let winamp/mp3tag write AA tags
however they want for FLACs (seemingly with a space). this has worked
perfectly for me.

my approach may not work for Foobar users, since they, (you guys seem
to be saying anyway), do not treat TPE2 as AA, and can't be made to.
but foobar is alone is this regard, and i don't use it.

i do add comp=1 tags, but only for the benefit of others who use
itunes/ipods. for my use, i really don't care if SBS "knows" something
is a comp or not, but it doesn't hurt either way.

i'll happily clarify anything you'd like? my posts will start
appearing at the Bliss site in a couple of days, and i'll be interested
to hear your guys feedback.
