  Allow me to add to my comment (below)... I say that as one who has never 
owned one of AM's loco models, only as one who has heard and read any reviews. 
So I could end up being well satisfied with the detail on them once one is in 
hand... which is about to finally happen... at least with a FB-2 shell.

  So my assumption as stated below is exactly that - an assumption based only 
on word of mouth. Here to hope of being wrong for a change.

  I strongly doubt AM's shells are even remotely as nice (quality/ detail wise) 
as of one of Athearn's modern shells . Therefore the price difference in 
uderstandable.
