Hi All,

I find that the American Models diesels are quite nicely engineered overall.
Eventually, I will change out the wheelsets to P64 but that is not on the front
burner. As is, they run nicely on my code 70 and code 83 track pulling cars
with P64 wheelsets all through the same trackwork. They are also way cheaper
than brass equivalents.

The detail is just enough so that I can add or subtract whatever I need to
create the prototype I'm after. Many good parts can be had from BTS. Some
decade I am going to transform my CPR FA2/FB2's into CNR FPA4/FPB4's. They are
totally out of era but they are my favourite diesels. I like the fact that
there is no detail to take off. Other than removing the paint, all I have to
do is add stuff until I get what I need.

Getting models with detail already installed, means I usually have to take
things off so it becomes twice the work. I also like to paint handrails
separately and attach them later. It makes for a much cleaner appearance.

>From time to time, AM shells become available on Evil Bay.

As for the Pacific, most people already know how much I like it or at least the
mechanism. The tyres are a little wide but if you look at some of the shots
from the steam era, they were a little wider than those on rolling stock.
Perhaps someone will come out with replacement drivers, but it is not a
necessity.

cheers,

Andy Malette
