I do like a super clean wagon and I know someone would love that car, but
that someone is not me. Just dont care for that body style forward.

I am loving the wagon, Andrew. Running like a top and everything is

Re: [MBZ] Hey Kyle!

2017-03-22 Thread Kyle Arola via Mercedes
Awesome! I had seen this site but couldn't find much on their quality. The
company in California is talked about on the interweebs.

As far as buying a used engine, might get a good one if you can wait around
until you find it, or you slap down the cash for a rebuilt. I must admit,
after the last 2 tanks of diesel, I am not too worried about needing an
engine soon. The motor is literally purring now that it is being run
regularly. I haven't even done the diesel purge and second oil change yet!

I have a spare truck if the MB breaks down so another car is not really
what I need, or want to insure and take care of.

If I did want another "real" car, I certainly would look at a nice older
MB... Maybe a Coupe as I think those are pretty cool!

Re: [MBZ] Parts car for Kyle!

2017-03-02 Thread Kyle Arola via Mercedes
I told the seller that if he got a Florida title that I would come and
check out the car with intent to make an offer, but without the FL title, I
was going to pass. All I can do about it as I don't want to eat a bowl of
"should have had a Florida title" BS... I really don't "need" a parts car,
yet, but am just planning for the future when they are even more scarce.

If anyone has a parts wagon in their area that is worth looking at, let me
know. Diamond blue, with Blue interior preferred, but not necessarily
required. IF it is awesome enough, I certainly would have it shipped to
me. Clear title a must! hahaha!

There is no way to turn off updating.

By setting your connection to metered as in my first email your computer
defers updates until you are on a non-metered connection.

Manfred,

There is no "turn off updates" in win 10. You can turn off upgrades, but
upgrades are the large version changes. Like from 1511 to 1607.

Once you set the connection to metered you should effectively stop the
normal updates from happening.

Re: [MBZ] OT: Win 10 questions

2017-02-18 Thread Kyle Arola via Mercedes
For the updates, set your connection type to metered.

To change this option, open the Settings app, head to Network & Internet >
Wi-FI, and click “Manage Known Networks”. Choose your modem network and
click “Properties”. From there, enable the “Set as metered connection”
option. This option only affects the Wi-Fi network you’re currently
editing, but Windows will remember this setting for each individual Wi-Fi
network on which you change it. (If you haven’t gotten the Anniversary
Update yet, this option will be in Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced
Options.)

True.
Asus is a consumer class machine and not generally known for its long term
robustness or upgradability, but like with everything, MG's mileage may
vary.

Testing out Win7 or Win10 in a virtual machine first, MG might decide he
likes it so much that he rolls his current machine over to the newer OS, if

2017-02-09 Thread Kyle Arola via Mercedes
I guess I am just not used to thinking of a drive train lasting an
additional 600,000 miles in addition to the already almost 300k on it now!
Hahaha! That would be amazing to be sure! I know there are OTR truckers
that get 1 million miles on their rigs, and I am guessing their diesels are
similar engineering wise as far as robustness goes...

Just a paradigm shift in thinking for me as I am part of the throwaway
generation and have been taught to replace my car every 80k miles, or 10
years at most!

If you do proper maintenance and repairs, the wagon
should last your lifetime. The period for catastrophic failures
from manufacturing defects is long over.

You just have to stay on top of things and use premium parts
for maintenance and repairs. Rust is not an issue for
you, so no problem there.

Kyle, the SD is the "S-Class" and as you've learned there are a lot of
differences.

Your '85 version TD is unique in several ways, let's see how many I can get
right.

(1) the head for the SLS pump, any other 123 wagon engine will work.

(2) Tail lights, rear bumper lights

(3) Tailgate hardware and wiper motor with fluid reservoir

(4) Third row rear seat stuff including belts

(6) SLS rear suspension _may_ share some parts with 126 500SEL cars with
SLS, like the control valve, struts.

(7) '85 123 cars have a different injection pump with the IP timing port

(8) '85 123 cars have KLIMA relay with the AC compressor belt saving
function (does that make the AC compressor different as well, for the speed
sensor?)

(9) '85 123 cars have a different transmission from earlier 123 cars

(10) '85 123 cars have a different differential from earlier 123 cars

(11) Yours is an '85 California version? Different air cleaner? Other
differences for emmisions?

(12) wagons have different muffler system

(13) wagons have different fuel tank, fuel level sender

In other words, if you ever run across a wagon for parts, you'll want to
collect the parts mentioned above "just in case".

Are the 123 wagon rear doors different from sedans?

Re: [MBZ] Craigslist NC Florida

2017-02-08 Thread Kyle Arola via Mercedes
Oh man!!! That is a ton of difference. I did not call her today as the head
issue was enough. I am going to finish the front brakes, time the ip and
set the valves, run the diesel purge through and then rebuild and pressure
check the injectors. That should take care of me for another 50,000 miles
or so!

Thanks Manfred for the dose of knowledge! I really did figure they were
mostly the same. I can see I was a bit off... Hahaha!

Re: [MBZ] Craigslist NC Florida

2017-02-08 Thread Kyle Arola via Mercedes
After some additional readings, it is in fact way to problematic to swap
out these motors without the head exchange. Adding the electric pump, or
converting to the newer dual pump (which I have not seen a picture of
actually working) is also not a good option as I want to keep the SLS
functioning. It appears that I will be looking for a wagon motor to
eliminate these problems. Not that I need a motor, far from it, but I do
like to be prepared. Now if a sedan had my blue interior, I can see where
having the extra parts would be handy, but it doesn't so I don't.

Thanks!

Yeah. I am never going to disable the SLS, or ruin the car. Just want to be
prepared for the future And a spare setup seems like a smart move.

Re: [MBZ] W123 Headlight Doors

2017-01-30 Thread Kyle Arola via Mercedes
As far as the $15 monovalve, mine worked great up to about 1700 rpm.

Above 1700rpm the valve was forced closed by the pressure from the water
pump.

Piece of crap and If you want heat all the time you best have the dealer
part. Even if you have to call Dan's dealer and order a couple.

More like men being men. Being the head of household, taking care of

True, no women here and very few on the forums that I read having to do

Re: [MBZ] OT Student Loans, was Stealers

2017-01-18 Thread Kyle Arola via Mercedes
You know the government is always looking for the next\new way to bind
people to the system and make them tax paying wage slaves. Student loans
and the college requirement is just the latest in a long line of scandalous
rip offs.

I used to tell young men to join the military, no more. Now I suggest trade
school, welders, auto mechanics, plumbers, a.c. tech's. All great paying
jobs where they can remain debt free and live within their means.

All in all, if my job at the University of Florida was not paying for
school, I would not be attending.

Take the Red pill and join the masculine side. It is not for everyone, but
apparently from what I read in these emails, most of you men are already
part\mostly there.

I am not sure which is the scam. I did email the CL ad that Dan posted and
it appeared to be a real person, but their Engrish sucked and they couldn't
type a real sentence. They also said their wife had posted the car on Ebay
and that someone wanted to buy it and so they took the ad down.

I feel that it is a scam of some sort, but I just don't know what. The
"husband" is saying the car is over by Pensacola, but either way, it is too
much money to invest in a car for me. I am going to look for a sweet

But when do either of those entities have your best interests in mind?

What if what they are telling me is a lie? Who benefits from my believing
this lie? What do I have to do if I don't believe the lie?

They are all lying to us. Every day and about everything.

That is true, but most of these people will also be living in bondage their
entire lives, slaves to the system. That is something I am no longer
willing to do and have taken drastic measures to make sure I never do.
But, I am also willing at the tender age of 48 to go to college, finally,
and to also learn what I need to know to fix my own house, cars (which I
have always done), and anything else that needs doing on the farm. Self
sufficiency has never looked so good!

I also understand that most people believe the lie that consumerism sells
them. Bigger house, newer car, shiny things to make themselves beautiful
and keep up with the Jones's. All at the low, low price of your entire
working life.
