Remember it's a devel release so you will see differences between it and the 1.0.3 release. That being said it will have no affect on your current Claws mail and configuration. It uses ~./sylpheed-gtk2 rather than ~./sylpheed If you wish to try it Please use urpmi to install it. This will allow for auto removal of all reg claws rpms, including plugins, and in addition display a README.urpmi to assist with the migration to the GTK2 branch of claws Charles -- A man was reading The Canterbury Tales one Saturday morning, when his wife asked "What have you got there?" I passed on that myself due to a bad experience before attempting such. Wasn't much to reset up anyway. Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Hi Charles do you know if there is an update for Sylpheed-claws around the corner for 10.1? I'm using the rpm's from 10.0 off your site at the moment and they do work but I get one or two odd things in 10.1 that were not there in 10. Like for example every time I exit the program it throws a wobbly. Its nothing to worry about I don't think and I can live with what I have for a while. If you use urpmi.removemedia you will loose access to your CD's for those things you have not installed yet when attempting to use urpmi. I suggest you go to www.urpmi.org and read more about urpmi and in particular, how to remove specific media you no longer wish to have. You can determine what media you have by viewing /etc/urpmi/urpmi.conf Know also that with a little renaming of your media you can have extra sites listed for simular media. Did you get a "curl" error? that's what I have been getting. I don't know about downloading Mandrake 10.0 Official, but, you can buy the Official Power Pack edition (5 CD's) for about $10.00 Us at: http://www.almostfreelinux.com This is how I got my current Mandrake 10.0 Community and it installed without any problems. I am very happy with it. I bought the Official 10.0 from Almost Free Linux yesterday and they shipped it the same day. I should have it arriving in the mail Monday or Tuesday - or thereabouts. I would look into downloading it, but I have dial-up and I don't feel like taking a chance on having a 20+ hour download broken ;) Ian On Friday 16 April 2004 12:50 am, Thujan wrote: > Hi, > > I just installed mdk10.0 C and I can't get updates? > Ain't 10.0C supported any more? > I tried several mirrors so it couldn't be one > particular mirror problem. > Is this cause of official 10.0 release? > Can one download official 10.0 somewhere? > > Thanks > > best rgds > ~ tt -- - Registered Linux User #350412 MacGregor Despite Them! And so in the new tree, does this folder in the Community section become the equivalent of CD4? ftp://ftp.proxad.net/pub/Distributions_Linux/mandrake/Mandrakelinux/devel/community/contrib/i586 It's basically the same as this folder in the Cooker section (without the bleeding-edge updates), right? ftp://ftp.proxad.net/pub/Distributions_Linux/mandrake/Mandrakelinux/devel/cooker/contrib/i586 Apologies for the basic yet particular questions. Re: [newbie] updates mdk 10
Okay, I just checked the following for updates: Official Branch: urpmi.addmedia main ftp://ftp.proxad.net/pub/Distributions_Linux/mandrake/Mandrakelinux/official/current/i586/Mandrake/RPMS with ../base/hdlist.cz There was nothing to update on my computer, so I removed Main (which I think I'm supposed to do if I'm going to add Community). I then added and checked Community. Community Branch: urpmi.addmedia community ftp://ftp.proxad.net/pub/Distributions_Linux/mandrake/Mandrakelinux/devel/community/i586/Mandrake/RPMS with ../base/hdlist.cz There was nothing to update here, either. Both said, "Everything already installed." After adding these sources, in both cases I did: urpmi.update -a The only updates I've done since loading the 10.0 CD ISO's are the few files that were security patches. Shouldn't I have at least gotten updates when I checked the Community branch or does this seem right to people? Rory Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Re: [newbie] updates mdk 10
SInce easyurpmi doesn't have updated mirrors and I'm new to this urpmi thing, I just want to confirm: Would this be the path to the new Stable branch that I should be setting up as "Main"? ftp://ftp.proxad.net/pub/Distributions_Linux/mandrake/Mandrakelinux/official/current/i586/Mandrake/RPMS "Updates" are easy to find or urpmi, but not "Main" (which is the same as "core" and "stable," I guess) Clicking through the FTP site shows a couple of possibilities, so I just want to make sure this is the correct one, before going forward. And I assume what I'd enter in to the console would be: urpmi.addmedia main ftp://ftp.proxad.net/pub/Distributions_Linux/mandrake/Mandrakelinux/official/current/i586/Mandrake/RPMS with ../base/hdlist.cz Wasn't there a layout of the new mirror structure released somewhere. I'm going back and can't seem to find it. Matt, I assume you are dual booting, so the easiest way is to download to a fat32 partition the RPM's. Now boot linux, and find /mnt/windows or whatever the fat32 partition is mounted as. From there (as root) you can: rpm -Uvh rpm-file-name for updates. Don't do that for a new kernel though! For that it's: rpm -ivh kernelx HTH Brian On Mon, 2002-04-22 at 09:26, Matt Blake wrote: > I want to download the updates for 8.2, but due to a winmodem need to do > it through windows. Or, what is the > difference between an updated 8.1 and 8.2 when it releases? Various differences are contained between one release and another. The updates are for bug and security fixes. New releases normaly contain new versions of software, or reconstruction of the distro and/or design. No, a fully updated, say 8.0 is not the same as 8.1. I think the Mandrake Updates is a separate rpm. Make sure you have it installed on your system.
