Coleman camping reel. Buy 4 of them. Use two for the antenna wire (I use
33 feet on each side but
is mode of operation. Neither the K1 nor the KX1
have this "split" capability. RIT and XIT may work under some conditions
but it is not nearly as flexible.

I also worked them on 30m and 20m with a QRP K2 into a Cobra Ultralite
antenna. ( www.k1jek.com ). The bands were not in great shape either. There
was a "stuck paddle" on 7002.0 all night last night.

Elecraft maili
ort as possible between the rig and the
balun because of the high SWR on that line. Most of the time I use a
male-to-male BNC adaptor between the rig's output BNC and the balun.

have heard some SW stations that must be using a wider bandwidth than
10kHz, based on how nice they sound on an old Hallicrafters radio - the kind
with just the IF transformers for selectivity. Radio China International
comes to mind).

Question: Aside from the switch to change from a 1:1 to 4:1, what are the
differences between the BL1 and BL2? I've never seen either, however it
appears to me that the BL2 has two binocular cores, and the BL1 has a single
core. Is this so?
Answer - The BL2 is rated at 250W. The BL1 was rated
it
there). The balun has always stayed in the 4 to 1 position. I try to keep
the piece of coax from the balun to the rig as short as possible, and
sometimes use the male-to-male BNC adaptor that Elecraft sells.
