one with lotsa features and is really easy to use. I'm looking for one that
lis like WinVN (Win95), it's still my favorite.

I wanted to use the DHCP server as opposed to setting my networking info
statically. @Home is a bit odd, in that their DHCP server requires an
identifier from the client request in order to get a response.

Hmmm... now sure how to do it from the console but, if you're desperate,
you can try booting in level 5 (type linux 5 at the lilo boot) and choose
it from there.

You need to create a rescue disk as well, and put it in the floppy drive
when it asks you to insert the rescue disk.
You can create the disk using rawrite from the dosutils dir on your cd and
the rescue image is in the images dir.

You probably dont want to hear this but its all I can suggest what I'd do.
Perhaps reinstall fresh - selecting format new linux partitions as you go
(when it asks during the install).
Select just the basic packages for a first install, just to get it up and
running. Then go back and install

and edit "Xservers" file by changing the line entry:

you can get to X login with "linux 5" & choose your windowmanager. have you
tried "mouseconfig" or whatever its called yet? Type "setup" @ command
prompt. BTW, you might be able to choose desk With "setup" too - can't

This will remove lilo and restore your boot sector to what is was
previously(as far as I know because I've tried it after having this
problem). I forget exactly where it backs it up and the file name, but it
does and this works great.

Hi everyone I have Linux Mandrake 7.0 succesfully installed on my
machine!!! What a treat in comparison to the usual boring Windows. I am
trying to install an RPM that says it has a dependancy
on libjpeg.so.6. Is this not a file that is required by alot of KDE

love it. There is one small problem i have two cd drives one dvd and one
burner. The system always recognizes and mounts properly the standard
drive. The secondary cd burner it never recognizes and i'am a little bit
