Re: [313] Sound Signature

2000-06-14 Thread Renegade Rhythms
Jason,
   I don't have Theo's contact information off hand but I don't believe
that he does any kind of retail sales. I may be wrong though. To the
best of my knowledge, I do believe that the new sound signiture LP/CD is
not out yet. Should be real soon and as soon as I see them in the mail ,
I'll let you guys know, he did release a Sound Signature complilation CD
and some Mix CD's.
If you are having trouble locating the Sound Signature Catalog , we
distribute Sound Signature, so provide your local store with our contact
info or contact us yourself if you are having difficulty obtaining these
crucial sounds.

Here's the details for the new releases that we just got.

Mix CD's: (if you like his DEMF set then you have to get these!)

Live in Detroit 1999
Methods of Movement 2000 (also available on tape)

Compilation CD:

Sound Signature Series
Tracklisting: Shadow Dancing, Moonlight, Ebonics, Dan Ryan , Dance of
Drunken Drum, Lake Shore Drive,
Took Me all the Way Back , Lost Keys , Music Pt. 1, Dusty Cabinets

You can reach us through [EMAIL PROTECTED] or through fax at
503-253-0736
Our website doesn't have any distribution or retail info up right now ,
as it is
currently handling some of our other projects such as our events and
webcasts but should
have some additional features in the near future including online
ordering. But til
then , give us an email and we can work out the specifics of getting you
the products. We
also have most of the back catalog Sound Signature releases. Get them
while you can.

Can anyone supply me with contact info for Sound Signature? I keep
trying
to e-mail them at the e-mail address listed on the Summertime Is Here
EP
 but haven't gotten a response.

Seems kind of silly to me that they don't make their CDs more
available.
There certainly seems to be adequate demand.

 Thanks

Re: [313] 430 west info

2000-06-07 Thread Renegade Rhythms
Tim,
It was one nice party. Buzz Goree opened up spinning I nice variety
of music while the place was starting to get filled up. Then came the
Direct Beat Assassin's First ever Live Appearance and Lorne Burden's first
ever live appearance. Direct Beat Assassin's were Lorne Munchman Burden
on the MPC 2000 and a Turntable with DJ Digital on 2 decks doing some
scratching and adding some beats of his own. If you want to see what you
missed , go to to the GrooveTech Archives of the Underground Stage at the
DEMF and check out Day 3. It was a nice blend of Tech-Electro. Next up
was Octave One's First ever live appearance as well. Ocatave One for this
wonderful set was Lawrence Burden, Lenny Burden , Lionel Burden and Lorne
Burden. As another 313 list member put it, they started off with I
Believe and they finished up with the Octave One remix of Knights of
Jaguar what else can you say other then , should have been there. After
that , Lawrence Burden when on the Decks. After Lawrence played for an
hour or so, Random Noise Generation played. A different set then we saw
in Portland. It was nice. After RNG was DWynn and just when we were about
to go James Pennington AKA Suburban Knight showed up and made us stay til
the night was finished. Must say props to the Burden Brothers and the
rest of the 430 West Crew for a memorable First Party commemerating 10
YEARS DEEP. It was definitely worth the trip out from Portland. Check
http://www.430west.com for some pictures from the show and check out our
Random Noise Generation page on RR at http://www.RenegadeRhythms.com/rng/
for more pictures and a more in depth report to be posted later this week.

Kent:
Seriously. I'd think Cox would always get love in Detroit.

 1. He is a first rate Techno DJ.
 2. He's from the UK, and plays the top clubs there but hasn't
turned into a total money grubbing whore like a lot of UK
DJs I could name.
 3. He's a genuinely nice guy.

 What's not to like?

You're bang on the money with 2 and 3 - but I'd hesitate to call him a
first-rate techno DJ though. He's certainly got the skills but he
plays a lot of really crap records at times and he's always very
commercial and accessible - doesn't take a lot of risks. I know he can
rock a party and all that but I'm not into the music he plays...

I would have to concur after seeing him @ The End in London, when he played
progressive house 'til me ears bled. : and @ the Metro in Chicago when he
housed it up for a while (which was fabulous) then moved into the
progressive stuff. In my mind, that certainly wasn't a very good read of the
crowd - he was in Chicago, after all. And Tom's spot on about the
risk-taking. Not a whole lot of innovation, even if the mixing is flawless,
almost inspiring.

And one more thing: WHY does he spin with Jim Masters so much? Must be his
mate or something. He blows! I was tortured by him on both of the occasions
above. This guy has *nothing* to offer to the world of electronic music.

Have you been able to verify that BMG dropped the second ripoff or
are they just holding onto it until the heat dies down.
Until I see a posting from Cornelius indicating the BMG have
provided UR with the publishing rights to the new version, I would
say that this fight is not over. Plus , I do believe that on the
ur-records list that the Jaguar was seen on a compilation from Germany, so
they may be just sub-licensing it to keep the heat off of them...
so I would have to agree with Israel

be starting all over...

knocking dancefloor tunes together. How far must we

Random Noise Generation- 430 West (Live PA)

What is Dance Music? Some say it is simply sound that inspires
motion. Reaching for that next step is the music of Random Noise
Generation. R.N.G. the sample twisting alter ego of Burden Brothers.
Their use of machine altered vocals and instrumentation have reached
around the world and help to pioneer many modern
styles of sampling.Represented by the screaming man logo, Random noise
generation swept the dance clubs of world from its original conception.

The debut dance anthem Falling In Dub, rocked clubs all through
Europe and was featured at Berlin's Love Parade. Originally released on
430 West Records in May of 1991, it was quickly picked up for
simultaneous release in three separate countries: the U.K. by Outer
Rhythm Records, Belgium by Buzz, and in Germany by
Low Spirit where it was remixed by Claude Young, Terrence Parker, and
the legendary Westbam

The sound of R.N.G. moves between straight up clubhouse tracks to
deep hard techno, Random Noise Generation breaks down the bounders that
we don't need, and leaves what we do, the funk. With over 30 tracks
moving the globe, R.N.G. takes it right to the floor. No matter what's
going down according to Lenny, it's gonna make you move

I've had the Techno 1 compilation for years
and I would recommend it as well actually , mine's
almost worn out ... so if any body wants to get rid of theirs...

The other one is called Techno 1/Dance? (KMS-018) that looks like it must
have come out at the end of 1988 or early 1989, since all the credits are
for 1988. Pretty much an allstar lineup: Definition of Love, Yeah Yeah
Yeah (Magic Juan), a KMS remix of MK/Separate Mind's First Bass, Illusion
(R. Tyme with Mayday, D. Wynn, KMS, produced by Mayday, mixed by Magic Juan
--
yow!) and Beyond the Dance. Among others :)

2000-03-07 Thread Renegade Rhythms
Feel free to contact the person that told you that it wasn't that good.
I would love to purchase his copy. I have heard the song, and I like it.
It sounded like Moodyman to me!

On the other hand, I've been told that the kdj on moods / grooves
isn't actually that good (I guess when you compare it to other
moodyman stuff). I'll still hear it for myself, if mike grant decides to
repress the sucker.

You should be happy that there is 2 tracks... most of his one
siders only have 1 track you're getting a 2 for 1 deal...

By the way - has any one checked out the Theo Parrish that's being released on
Trackmode? I just heard the white label a week or two ago and it's sick.

KDJ M n' G-005 Good sounding stuff unfortunately only 2 tracks,

RE: (313) sony and food on the table...

2000-02-07 Thread Renegade Rhythms
Sand,
Yes, I got the same form letter from Dirk. I responded back to him and
Dirk's boss in regards to the fact that they have not payed any royalties for
their release of the product nor have they provided a public apology in
regards to it. They are definitely not out of the game. They would like to
delude us into thinking that and pass the buck onto BMG. I urge you to
continue to contact Dirk, Dirk's Boss and the rest of SONY and especially BMG
and let them know that you as a consumer are expressing your beliefs to them.
That we do not have any type of legal action that we can take as consumers
but what we can do as a consumer is to ensure that we continue to Boycott
them and their affiliates (BMG - Random House - Windham Hill - RCA Records -
Arista Records - Deconstruction - Logic Records) (Sony - Epic Records -
Columbia - Loaded - Creation - Incredible Records - Relativity) will continue
to provide the media and inform other consumers of this pressing issue. With
the impending merger of Sony Music and BMG to make the largest Record Label in
the World, they need to know how we feel and will act. As a consumer, I will
try to spread this as far as possible. From writing to my local newspaper to
contacting the New York Post.

Boycott Sony!

what is with the people at sony (ger.), they seem to think they're free and
clear of any liability in this whole UR thing. at least that's the
impression i get after firing off an email to the man responsible for this
whole fiasco.

has anyone else got the same smugness?
curious.

RE: (313) WEB ARTICLES REGARDING UR vs SONY???

2000-02-04 Thread Renegade Rhythms
Terrence,

Hello, Unfortunatetly their has not been enough press written up on this
subject. I have put up a page (http://www.RenegadeRhythms.com/ur/) to try to
make it easier to see the chronological order of the entire issue. The page
itself needs quite a bit of work (which I'll be doing this weekend!), but the
information itself is their. Most of the correspondence that has gone on
between UR and Sony. As well as the correspondence that has been going on From
UR BMG. I have included a links (www.RenegadeRhythms.com/ur/links.html)
section that includes the articles that I have run across. Supposedly XLR8R
and URB have some items coming up but I haven't seen them yet. This months
Jockey Slut has a brief mention in the news section... but I don't think they
are online any more.
UK magazines Muzik and DJMag have stories on this but I haven't been able to
find them online either... (any one care to scan and send me all these
articles?) www.dancesite.com had an article up last week but it's down now. I
do have a local copy of it if you would like. I am currently waiting
permission from the publishers for reposting on my site. That's the sad fact
at this point. Not enought press on this very IMPORTANT issue for all
musicians.
So once again , I would like to have a call to arms for the Underground.
BMG has released a video of the cover that is now playing on German TV and the
last I heard, the cover was #4 in the German Dance music charts. To top all
of this off, Sony still has not payed any royalties nor provided a public
apology for their part in all of this. I urge everybody to contact SONY, BMG
Bertelsmann to let them know how their actions are being viewed. Please
contact your local press as well as all the national press that you can find.
Remember YOU WILL BE NEXT!

Boycott BMG/SONY,
David (a concerned consumer)

= Original Message From [EMAIL PROTECTED] =
Could someone please send me e-mail addresses of any good articles regarding
the whole UR/SONY/BMG thang ASAP???

Thanx!

RE: (313) Richie Hawtin / Kev Saunderson / Burundi

2000-01-31 Thread Renegade Rhythms
Hello, Any of the UK List members want to share taped or cd archived copies of
this mix show? :) I would be happy to go through and trainspot for you.

= Original Message From Nick Craddock [EMAIL PROTECTED]
=
Hiya folks,

Do any of the UK listmembers (or otherwise) have a tracklisting for Richie
Hawtin's mix that was aired on Mary Anne Hobbs' show a few months back?
There's some amazing deep techno tracks on there a la Maurizio / Chain
Reaction and I need to get some full IDs on them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Caught Kevin Saunderson in Liverpool on Friday night. He played a smooth two
hour set comprising mainly of deep chunky house. I didn't recognise any
tracks from the first part of his set but towards the end he dropped some
classics, including 'Pump The Move', 'World Of Deep', 'French Kiss' and
'Spastik'.

There's a Lost / Burundi event at London's 'The End' on Saturday 12th Feb.
DJs playing are Derrick May, Surgeon, Steve Bicknell, John Kennedy (tribal
bongo fiend), and in the backroom there's Kirk DeGiorgio, John Reynolds and
Mario. For info call (UK) 0171 791 0402 or 0956 497702.

Take it easy guys and gals.

Nick

RE: (313) Jaguar Rip Off

2000-01-21 Thread Renegade Rhythms
You can check it out here

http://www.renegaderhythms.com/ur/jaguar_ripoff.html

I've archived the one that I found on the net but I haven't found a longer one
yet. It is long enough to give you an idea on how they ripped off Rolando
without question.
If you are writing up an article , then you may want to join the UR mailing
list that was started to help people interested communicate with each other.
Their is an archive their with the numerous correspondence that has gone on
between Sony and UR. You can joing the Group from the Renegade Rhythms site
or directly from the Egroups site ( http://www.egroups.com/group/ur-records/ )

and remember Boycott BMG (Random House - Windham Hill - RCA Records - Arista
Records - Deconstruction - Logic Records)
