2002-03-08 Thread T . J . Johnson
Tristan has a great point here. Besides, how do you know that the person who
posted originally about racism meant it the same way as webster did?!

I mean seriously; wasn't webster only 3.5 ft. tall because of a deficiency in
his pituitary gland? With all the medication he was taking, how do we even
know that he was in the right state of mind when he wrote the dictionary?

I know. Bad joke...

I know that you never claimed that you were right, but you did come to
everyone's aid with your ever-so-helpful definition. I am not simply
reacting for the sake of reacting. I thought you hit the nail on the head by
posting this definition, although apparently not in the way that you meant
it. There is such wide disagreement here because we can't agree on what
racism is. That was *my* point. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

My suggestion is to start a new topic about racism in music and use the webster
or OED definition from the get-go. then maybe it would go more smoothly???

this is the point exactly. How do we know what anyone else means unless
we use the one common source of the meaning of the words we use in our
 language?

I can see tristan really wishes the words mean something different to
the rest of us, but it just hasn't happened yet.

Linguistics and sociology aren't my chosen fields, otherwise I could
pretend to be academic and have a wank off discussion about the topic
 with him.

Sometimes it seems that it would be easier for me to make it in the electronic
music indistry if I were black. This, I think, is because most of the ones I
look up to are black and it almost seems like a pre-req, you know what I mean?
I'm not saying that this is a fact or anything. I think everyone, as we said
earlier, feels racism whether it be reverse or not. It is a weird thing.

My true view on racism, in general, is that is was put here on earth as an
obstacle that can only make us (red-blooded people) stronger. It can be a
brick wall to some while merely a hurdle for others. Each one of us just has
to strengthen ourselves enough to hop over it

Can I get a witness?!?!?!?!?

Me, myself I am not the best one to do this becauze of the language problem

But if we only move the titles around and not stepping into the things

we act respectless, as we are ignorant, as we don´t listen, don´t care -

let me come up with nu questions -

What do you know about influences of groups like Nucleus ?

Why are UR calling themselves souldiers ?

Why do you think are 4 Hero currently highlighting the aspect their music is

Well, since others are throwing around their opinions about this, I guess I'll
toss mine out there. I enjoy writings like this. The concept of time and its
existence have perplexed intelligent minds for forever (if forever exists).
Without time there is no forever and with forever there is no need for time.
Without forever there is time. If time exists, who created it--man or greater?
What is the definition of existence? Does this email exist? Prove it!

I know this sounds like a bunch of ranting about nothing, but topics such as
this are interesting to me and many other people :)

directly from the record and not Jason's retyping it to actually analyze it
though. Maybe Jeff should hire an editor to fend off grammatical analysts! ;)

Whoops! Recognizable. ;)

So the point is, that whoever recognizes Jeff's discussion topics are smarter
than he is? I don't get it. I'm probably missing your point. Anyways...

One good thing about Jeff's grammar:

He doesn't use a thesaurus when he writes. He actually may, but what I'm
actually trying to say is, he doesn't use huge words that only 4 people use on
a regular basis, just to try to sound intelligent. Grammar and vocabulary are
not the only contributors to one's intelligence, as many of you know. So, to
try to pick apart someone's brain and basing an opinion about his/her
intelligence on grammar and discussion topic choice is just as elementary as
Jeff's discussions about time/space theories. =)

I agree whole-heartedly! The text is there to try to get the listener into the

Nice quote, but, unfortunatly, I don't think his name will ever be erased from

As an aside, some network anchors and others have taken, in recent days,
to pronouncing the name of this depraved demoniac “Oh-sah-ma,” because it is
spelled, in press accounts, with an O. Whereas, on the FBI Ten-Most-Wanted
List, Mr. Bin Laden’s Christian name (if you will) is rendered as Usama,
with a U. The truth is, that, when first the infant demon was diapered, in
1957, his birth certificate appeared in Arabic script. Therefore, when his
name is spelled with Roman letters, it is spelled phonetically, as it
sounds; and since it is properly pronounced with a soft U as in “us,” or a
soft O as in “of”, it can be spelled with either O or U. But it is properly
pronounced, “Uss-ah’-ma.” I offer this pronunciation guide as it is seemly
that we speak the name correctly as we spit on his death notice and delete
him from the memory of man.- Dave McBride

Re: [313] WTC - Nostrodamas prediction

I agree with Hans. Nost's predisctions are so damn vague that this could be
talking about anything. I really doubt that his original writing said the word
York. I'm sure that that is someone interpretation. And, finally, I'm sure
that no 2 interpretations are the same, so people are basically getting all
worked up over someone elses opinion on wht Nostradamus meant.

One more thing. Nost made thousands of so-called predictions and most of them
are dead wrong. If your chances of winning the lottery are 1,000,000:1 and you
buy 1,000,000 tickets, don't you think that one of them would be a winner? My
point is, that it may just be pure chance that Nost is VAGUELY correct on some
of his predictions when he makes so many (books full) of them...

if there's no reason to openly criticize it, then there's no reason to be
openly positive about it either. my negative opinion is just as valid as
any other. My beef isn't with what's going on there (i support it), my beef
 is the attitude it portrays.

Here are a few words on negativity. As more negativity is cast on anything in
this world (say electronic music scene as an example=), that thing becomes
increasingly closer to zero. If the electronic music scene became zero as in
non-existant (which is what zero is), that would suck.

Think about it. Keep adding -1 to 100 and before long it is zero or even less!
Maybe that's why people don't like negative comments. Maybe they feel like
people who have negative attitudes toward something they love just wants to
diminish it.

BTW zero is both non-existance and zero is non-existant. There can never be
nothing of anything.

One time I spun at a party where I had the turntable hooked to a lasso that I
got from The Diamondback in Belleville. I swung the turntable over my head in
a direction opposite to that of the spinning record that was spinning backwards
on my Numark. While I was doing that, my partner (this is a two-man trick) who
was riding the turntable like a bull, scratched the national anthem with his
elbow. This was a real crowd pleaser and my medical bills for Killswytch (the
other half of this duel performance) being thrown into a pop-stand, were
covered by all the cash I made that night. It was awesome.

There are no limitations thats only YOUR perspective!

Uuuuh. There are limitations to how deep man can dive into the ocean, how high
man can fly, how long man can live, how loud music can be before a man's
eardrums blow out, how much weight you can lift. The fact of the matter is
that there are limitations to us while we are in this dimension.

I do agree, however, that there is a plane of existence where we are not
limited, but, unfortunately, none of us are inhabiting that plane right now.
Atleast none of us who are typing emails to the 313 list.

I think what was said earlier pertained to realizing our limitations right now.
In the long-run, including our after-life, I think that we are in-fact
limitless. So I guess it just matters what time-scale we are using when we
determine whether or not we are limited. Maybe the ones who really know that
we are limitless in the after-life are those same ones who commit suicide in a
hurry to get to that realm. But maybe that is a bad idea because we will ruin
our chance to get to that plane.

One thing we are not limited in is our imageination.

Imageination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited.
Imagination encircles the world. -Albert Einstein-

I agree with you all. I think it goes both ways. I find myself caught
somewhere between science and reality--wanting to know everything, but
understanding that that is impossible because there is no everything. Limited,
yet limitless. Maybe being both is being limitless. I think so. I find
myslef leaning toward the same opinion as stated above (wv909).

The only thing I may disagree with is people insulting others. We all have
different opinions and perspectives. Let's keep it that way and try not to
impose our beliefs on others and trying to make people feel dumb. Our
differences are what make us (all of us) a limitless entity--taking all of
our beliefs and combining them into one all-encompassing opinion.

Keep 313ing everyone and let's express our limitless existence, here in this
dimension, thru music!

 Hi,

While y'all were getting down in Detroit, I went to Fuse in Brussels last
Saturday to see Mr Gigolo Hell.

And it was mad! Hell just played one memorable record after the other,
dark,
booming, just the way only he can play.

He even dropped in some old Front 242 stuff :-)

There was one track which stood out, and which also sounded like a Front
242-track, but I can't quite pin it down. It had lyrics in it like 'I wear
my sunglasses at night so I can, so I can...'

 Anyone?

Hi I just saw Rob Hood spin last night. It was a really good show. He,
Clark Warner, and DJ Heather all really rocked the house.

Rob started off playing detroit classics (May, Atkins, and Saunderson
stuff...) and transitioned into motown and straight into minimal. Really cool
stuff and interesting to listen to. He had a hip hop break-down or two. The
only thing is, the interruptions from minimal into slower genres, in my
opinion, kind of stopped the progression of the music. The floor wasn't very
full and only a few peoplep were dancing. It's kind of pathetic that Hood

On a different note I kind of feel bad for John Aquaviva though. He is

Dou you mean Detroit Metro or Detroit City airport? Metro is about 40-50

The cost from City is about 15-25 bucks and from Metro will be atleast 40 bucks
probably more...

I took a cab home from downtown to my house in Redfor (20 minute drive) and the
cab fare was 35 bucks. Outrageous i know=(

new records

2001-05-04 Thread T . J . Johnson
Hey I got some new records!!!

Groovetech sent me a warped Stewart Walker 12 though. It's a great piece but
when I back spin it to hard the needed takes a bounding leap.

I got a sweet Punisher 12 on Seismic and that shxt is swt.

DJ Bone's Shut the Lights OFF goes of. It is a great mix with Daniel Bell's
Work that Shxt.

Also I got some great stuff by Tim Xavier as well as Deetron... I forget the
name of my Deetron one (work sux!!!), but it's the smaller blue vinyl with an
Ape-head sillhouette on it. Great chirpy track...

Also I go some great tribal techno from Adam X on Sonic Groove. Very nice...
Also I got an interesting white label from Organ Grinda. There's only one
track but it is really good. It has some great evangelistic vocals on it.
Very Political sounding in a way. Not the words themselves, but the way it
is presented gives me that feel...

Well, just thought I'd share my joy =)

Peace!

Wow that is a bitter pill your takin there pal! lol

I don't know that I have a fav, but Tim Xavier's mix live @ Karma is pretty
damn sweet. I like its machine-like feel. It makes me think of destructive
robots with wires hanging out and only half working making crazy ass sounds

Also, Joel Mull's live @ Karma mix is pretty seet too. The vocals in the
middle sounded kind of weak at first, but after a listen they kind of enhance
the mix and take it into a new realm of sort.

Gratitude to the group

I just want to take this special moment to express my gratitude to the [313]
group. Before this group I was nothing. Just a boy with a dream to one-day
spin some great music an to hopefully spin my own tracks one day. Since my
[313] admission I have learned of DJ Shufflemaster, DJ T 1000 (holy shxt!),
Gary Martin, Claude Young, Tresor Label, UR, Blake Baxter, and just waaay
too many more to mention. My vinyl collection has grown to over twenty albums
in 2-weeks and I think I have been able to make good, educated selections
because of you, 313 (wiping tear from my cheek).

So, if you ever feel like you might be wasting airwaves with your off-topic
techno-talk and your miniscuel (spelling!) critiques of music, and your
controversial discussion and opinion throwing, STOP IT! I [EMAIL PROTECTED]
love you guys!
