Re: (313) records....
the Rob Hood limited thing (Omega on PeaceFrog) is surprisingly good for a bit of acid house flavour It ain't Chicago is a good 12 too... there is a new 12 by sendex on the bunker label it is all acid house very good imo worth the listen if you are into that. i picked it up because i kow sendex's electro on bunker, but this is straight up acid, early chicago sound, flying 303, etc. from the UR batch i only picked up aguila and redplanet the fix mix of aguila is the one for me.reverse edits yum, the redplant is nice but a little formulaic, immaculately produced of course tho. you are talking about the four 7er's? I picked these up a couple of weeks ago they are very nice the aquanauts is my fav. reminds me of the jackin ur electro sound, kinda like drexicya/chaos. is this drex-related? kinda thought that becasue of the water reference. the red planet and los hermanos 7's are excellent also, but not as familar with those series of ur. there was also a second electro sounding 7 forget the name right off hand andi'm at work but that one is also top notch. oh yea record time ferndale had these. did not see them in roseville. scotto lansing, mi plaztikjezuz.com

Re: (313) New Plastiman album Closer online
the one thing that bugs me about this is the vinyl release only has 8 tracks and the two that are missing are my favorites. well i guess one of the missing tracks is my fav. is headcase going to be released on it's own 12. its a four 12 vinyl release you can fit 10/60mins worth of music on that and not have a sound quality issue. like the music. got to play a couple of them out (headcase and i forget the insturmental's name), people really liked it, which suprised me. but i guess it was a goth/industral crowd Superb musik!!! WOW this cd is definitely a mind trip. RE: (313) OT: Xone32 Vs DJM 500
my only complaint about the Xzone is it physical set up. i have used one twice and the were the channel gains are at is dumb imo they are on the back face plate. there were also no kills, which for sucked, i was playing electro both times and really wanted kills. but for not having the scratch mixer features the volume curves on the channels was like a scratch mixer. but having saying this once i got used to the mixer i know i would love it. my problem with the djm 500 or 600 i they are cheaply built. they dont sound all that bad. they get fuzzy in the high end, i suspect cheap pre-amps. but if you sre going to spend that much cash you should get something that will last. i bought a stanton sk-2f it's very clean sounding straight forward 2 ch, 3 band ch eq's, assingable curve on the cross-fade and ch faders. balanced and rca outs. i've never had a problem with mine, but i had a friend who had problems with his. i think he beat it to hell though, he loaned it to everyone on earth and was/is a fader masher. i won't let him use mine. so i sent two hundred dollars and it is very clean sounding, cleaner then a dmj 500, if it breaks it will meet the trash and i will get a new one. scotto lansing, mi plaztikjezuz.com
Re: (313) Recommend...
I haven't heard the CD yet but I'm loving the last couple of twelves of his I picked up - 'Alpine Rocket' with Mat Johnson on Perlon, and 'Orange Mistake' with Quennum on Cadenza... there is a different matt johnson that is rockin. forget th elabel but it is american dom. or at least the price was only $6 if it was an import.
RE: (313) Record Time www site...
i would recommend having a detroit friend (ahem) dig for the htf records you need. i saw some ugly edits white labels there a couple weeks back, among other goodies. i picked up one of those not sure which one, but it is pretty cool. i also got docile #6, eurotek on metroplex, 2 luke slater's, and a whole bunch more most were $3. i had never ben given a box at a record store before, but i only bought a few new records, the used bins were so good. the new perlon (forget the name) someone with the last name johnson, the matt dear ep's and two reggae comps on jazz-soul. i must say i have not listened to the other records the joe gibbs comp and the studio one story have not left my table since saturday morning. the studio one story came with this bonus dvd with 4 hours of interviews and unreleased dubs. it's really killer. toast to coxsone! scotto lansing, mi plaztikjezuz.com ps. i have to give the good word to the two employee's at RT ferndale with dreds, they suggested the studio one story to me. saying i would really enjoy it.

RE: (313) new Kraftwerk (copy-protected?)
Just my not-all-that-serious way of saying what bc said + it has the added attraction of allowing unlimited amount of cd burning fr that vinyl ... ot that I'm encouraging anyone to do that, mind - but if you do, at least you would still have bought at least one copy of the record :-) . more serioulsy, how does copy-prevention work? I'm envisaging putting in a cd which plays on my cd deck at home, the phono out goes to the mixer, the mixer has a record out which can go to md or computer - if it plays it can be copied. How does any copy protect stop me? (I'm assuming it will only work on pcs?) you dont even have to use a mixer, mind yea i used a mac. for the radio show i used to have to copy cd's to my computer all the time. i wanted to play a radiohead track so i barrowed the cd from the station. i tried to copy the cd to mp3 for me. would not work because one of the ways i import cd to the program i use (pro tools) is to import a wav file. so i was screwed there, so i decided to bus the internal cd player to the record bus in the program and it totally copied it my computer and i was able to use the song. the end. so as long as i can hear the music, it can be copied. not that i endorse that. scotto plaztikjezuz.com

snip It's funny because I was a spokesman for vinyl. About two years ago I said vinyl will never go away, vinyl this, vinyl that, he said. end snip I will tell you whats funny.that the bbc is just making a story on this. are not these decks a few years old. it would make more sence to do it on final scratch or tracktor or the one with the pink records dbx uses. Oh and the other thing that annoys me is how much the BBC always pushes these technologies from big companies. This isn't news, it's just doing their advertising for them. Anyway, I'd better not get into a rant about the tabloid style BBC news as I'll being going on for ever! come on teh bbc is not as bad as cnn or fox news. american pop news channels are so bad. they make npr look librial. and i could go on for hour about this. scotto lansing, mi plaztikjezuz.com

Re: (313) TG
the industrial culture handbook has a short article in it on TG. what i remember most of the article is this picture of cosey getting freaky with a switch blade. there is this picture of montie cazazza (sp?) sticking his hand in an industrail torch, the kind used to melt iron ore, with a fire proof glove on. well it looks like his hand is in it. good article on CV wire, loop, and i know there were several more in there it has been almost 12 years since i viewed it last so i forget the rest. scotto lansing, mi plaztikjezuz.com I have this reSEARCH that is a must have Scotto, it is The Atrocity Exhibition by JG Ballard, who also wrote Crash and Empire of the Sun. It is very cool. I'd really like to see the reSEARCH mags you are referring to. BTW, I finally listened to that Monobox record and I thought it was great a bought it on the stop. A very nice extension of minimalism, with a more intricate and updated type sound. I'm surprised I didn't hear more about it, I know it was briefly mentioned but I'd definitely give it a strong reccomendation. ~Dave -- Original Message - Subject: Re: (313) TG Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 15:47:00 + From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org damn that would be cool. plus the others are way hot. bet they record it and sell that also. the TG 24 box set looks cool also but at 180 gbp with the current exchange rate = any american buying it right now is getting bent over. i really wounder if it will really happen though, concidering all the members hate certians others and some of them are just crazy. and it makes me curious if there will ever be a PTV reunion? fred? scotto lansing, mi. plaztikjezuz.com ps. anyone have copies of the reSEACH magazines; industrial culture handbook and the w. s. burrows TG issues. would love to read these again. I heard some electronic rmx of a black sabbath song forget wha it is, sweet leaf maybe? can you play something more danceable is also quite common, as well as do you have any hip hop, can you play insert local rock band name here etc.. my favorite is when guys walk up and ask, er um more like demand, to flow over what ever i'm playing. then when i say i'm really not into that, they stand there and yell raps in my face like that is going convince me. this happens everytime at co-op parties and last friday i thought this guy wanted to punch me, instead he kept calling me a hater and proceded to ruin an already messed up vibe by the fuzz. had someone once ask me to can you play some hank, i replied which one. my fiend was playing a wedding reception, this guy walked up and asked if he had a cd player. he said no, the guy replies i have this alice dj set, let me pull my car around and we can rock out. i have found the best way to deflect these question with a positve out come is to say i play vinyl and if they have any records they want me to play to bring them up. i know one day this will bite me in the ass when that person has the record on them. guess then it's on to plan b to put the record where they can see it and when they ask why i have not played it yet reply, i'm trying ot work it in. scotto lansing, mi. plaztikjezuz.com

here is my breakdown. personally id dont see the point in buying an expencive mixer which will wear out fast and i see lots of 500 and 600's in the shop where i used to work. personally i think they are flimsy, cheap pots and faders. i also think the cheaper vastex and neumarks are not worth a crap, they break down very quickly from experience with friends equipment. please note i'm not talking about there more expencive units, have not used them. it took me a very long time to buy a mixer, i settled on a simple 2 ch, 3 band eq battle style (i'm not a battle style dj though). at first i wanted a mixer with efx but decided that they all sounded either cheap or cheezy and i was really only using them very rare and mainly on the master. so i decided when i wanted to use my exf i could just route them through the master before the amp. the mixer o bought was a stanton sk-2f it was $250 and i have had not problems with mine. three of us around here have them they cost use a range of $150-$300 depending on when we bought and where. we have had one problem unit, the cheapest one, guess you get what you pay for. but the bass pot on one of the channels is going bad. needs to be replaced and stanton warrenty is good for 30 days on that part (bastards). one thing i noticed every 500 or 600 i play is is wack unless it's new or kept in a glass case/has a anal owner. every club i have been at thet has one they are just trash. almost every club around here has one which pisses me off because they are a crappy mixer imo, very cheaply built. if i was you and living in the uk i would look to an ah i dont care for them much either, but it is a layout issue with me there. i have used the x-zone 32 once and it was a beast to use for me. i really did not like how the preamp volume was on the back of the mixer and the volume curve was set up like a scratch mixer but it had no kill switches. but the mixer was solid sounded good and if ah makes a dj mixer like they make there desk mixers they will last. the only club around here i can think of that has an AH is the necto and from my understanding it was very expencive but it's really nice. it has these hudge knobs which leeds me to the one vastex i liek i think is the 245? it's the 19 one with the big knobs for the eq's. scotto lansing, mi plaztikjezuz.com
Re: (313) Cartridges for SL1200's
I have some Stanton 500 cartridges on my SL1200's. I'm thinking of getting me a nice new set. what are you guys using or what would you recommend?? i dont like stanton needles much, the 500's imo is one of the worst needles ever, almost all my friends have them. my biggest complaint about stanton needles are they dont track for jack! i have a pair of trackmasters and they are IMO the worst tracking needle ever. you have to have the lightest hand to even cue and they cost as much as ortofon's. i really like shure needles for the price the m35s are pretty good, they track nice, they sound good, don't over wear the record and the price is right. the m44g is also nice; tracks very well, scratchs, stays in the groove, etc. ortofon needles are nice but they cost alot and then the replacement tip cost a lot also and if you use them a lot you need to replace the tips. these would be my choice if i was rich! i have the same problem with my trackmasters tips $85 for two replacements. i can buy all new shure m35's ($65 for a pair) for that the tips for those are $20 a peice. another thing to think about is wheather you want spherical or eliptical tips. spherical wear the records faster but are better for scratching and surface noise and eliptical wear less but don't track as well and pick more surface noise. i would also look into how much the replacement tips cost and factor that in my decision. scotto lansing, mi plaztikjezuz.com
RE: (313) Cartridges for SL1200's
I would say to stay away from the one piece Ortofons. They have been known to mess up the tone arms on technics turntables because of size the contacts. If you can, compare how much bigger the contacts are on an ortofon compared to a normal headshell, they will push the contacts apart inside your tone arm causing them to come loose after time. Anyone else ever had this problem? I have always heard this from people who don't own ortofon needles. and have had friends who have had ortofons for a few years with no problems like this. i just can not imagine ortofon would realese a product tha would destroy the tone arm, who knows maybe i'm wrong? on the same note, stanton trackmasters and groovemasters are the same style as the ortofon one peice style and the contacts are even bigger and i never hear this rumor about them? Ortofon makes a good sounding cartridge though, you should check out the ones that mount under a headshell. The model #s on these all start with OM. Musicians friend has the OM PRO S with an extra cart for 49.99 right now, you could get 2 for just over a hundred with shipping. i have used these carts and they sound really good and track very good. they look funky as hell. scotto laninsg, mi. plaztikjezuz.com

Re: (313) Soul Music (was some nonsense spw was going on about)
The problem faced by Africans of the diaspora was: what do we do when the master takes away our drums, our language, our religion, by force? The answer, as far as I see, is that they took what they had, even if it was part of the masters' culture, and transformed it in order to re-assert themselves collectively. We can't play our drums? Then we will take your instruments, and your songs, and we will transform them, add our own inflections, we will drum even more effectively through your music until it is not any more yours but ours again. blues and jazz. i had this cool classes up here when i was a music theory major. jazz and blues history. the professor had all these old field recordings from the early '20s son house, charle patton, loads of gospal vocal groups, and some jazz groups i forgot the names. he also had some african tribal drumming with chanting. but to get to my point here, there was this note i forget exacatly what its name was but i rememebr it was a raised 3rd. this note was in the traditional african tribal music. it was also in blues and jazz from the period as well as today

i had fun. magdas set was really good and i think i enjoyed it the most tonight. se played a couple of good acid house track like jesus loves the acid and a jackmaster track think it's called debasser? it's on the bang the box ep. and here usual minimal techno. excellent mixing rich came out kinda banging it dance floor style and it was cool for a bit but i had to get some fresh air so I headed to the patio and listen to clark for a while. very nice tarck selection. i went back in and rich was playing some minimal german stuff, to quote carlos the polka beat, they were some sick tracks. at one point he kinda stopped it for a minute and played this track with a dance hall bass line and the half time high hat, very cool track almost sounded plastikman? but not as much as the track he played twords the end it reminded me of hypokondriak. it had a simular bass line and effect on the bass line. rich was breaking it down a lot with the effects. is he using the mac version of final scratch? there was a fleet of powerbooks up there. 2 14 tibook and a 12 tibook someone said he uses one for his effects now? what was the deal with the lights? are those minus glasses going to be for sale? scotto

RE: (313) heads-only techno? nah
I hear you on this kent. Lansing, mi. be it not the biggest techno scene in the state, but we used to have competing parties on saturday nights here in '99. promoters started having a hard time getting venues, the police started cracking down, and some kids graduated. now the scene is pretty small and most of the people who do like the music feel they are either to old or they have already been there and done that. lansing now has a couple of clubs temple and spiral but it is hard to get even 150 people on a regular bases to either of these places. which makes the bar owners want to try something different. record stores are closing, vinyl addict is gone, spin cycle is being sold to a hip hop dj, she says she will stock techno, but scottie really did not stock it anymore anyways, thank god FBC is still here john is my savior. i have been trying to figure it out, maybe its the loss of the feeling of the time? maybe it's the loss of the venues? maybe it's people stopped doing certian drugs? i really thought it was just techno but it's all electronic genres (jungle and trance). so is the electronic hype leaving? i have not really noticed an increase in rock groups coming up here. we have even lost some rock venues too. scotto lansing, mi. plaztikjezuz.com I would just like to see techno to have enough awareness and support among the general populace that it's a) taken seriously as a musical form b) gains a large enough audience to support events in places other than major cities. Not only has techno never really entered the pop music scene in the US, techno and dance music seems to be dying on the vine out here in the hinterlands. A couple of years ago we could bring out prominent Detroit and Chicago artists and not lose our shirts. No more. I don't think Iowa is unique, either. Factors like the putrid state of the US Economy, Anti-rave laws, changing tastes, have made it harder to find an audience for the music. RE: (313) more demf stuff...
and the DEMF is just a name indeed. I wondered how we would think of this if PCM got the festival and Derrick May said he was doing a 3 day party to because he thinks he must do the festival.. just a thought I heard last year a bunch of detroit artist, that did not play the demf wanted to do a free event at the same time in washington square. they susposably got the go ahead from the city, but the police said they were to low on officers. so it never happened. this is what someone told me last year. I dont know how true the story is. anyone hear this? or something like it. starting rumors now. scotto lansing, mi. ps. lets not forget the pemf, hope that happens again. that was to dope sh*t last year. good jobs guys.

http://www.upi.com/view.cfm?StoryID=20030124-044240-4419r A spokesman for DEMF Inc. said that the company will consider seeking an injunction against any Memorial Day festival with the DEMF name produced by anybody else. While May, Saunderson and Craig will handle many of the artistic decisions for the festival, the DEMF's primary point man will be Richard Maher of May's Detroit-based Transmat Records. May will actually be spending much of the next fourth months in Japan, where he was hired as the resident DJ at a new nightclub. Marvin also claims that last September her company successfully reserved Hart Plaza for the next three Memorial Day weekends for the DEMF. scotto lansing, mi.

RE: (313) Mayday (or Labor Day)
i hope it does well. i'm behind the new guys all the way in hopes that they will bring back not only the quality of the first festival, but the electricity each and every night held. and if i'm asked to be a part of the freakout setup team/artist co-ordination, then i'd be honored to do so. hell, i'd even DJ ;P... think I will volenteer again i hope derrick and whomever is in charge provides the festival with not only a good balance of new (*cough*craig gonzalez/matt dear*cough*) and old(*sneeze*shakeandclaudeyoung) detroit people, but artists also taking it to new territories. maybe bringing some really way out stuff like Taylor Deupree or Kim Cascone. some Jan Jelinek, Telefon Tel Aviv or Metro Area. there's plenty of exciting, quality new music out there that Detroit audiences have yet to be exposed to. i hope they have the wide angle lens on to include alot of different styles, rather than just banging it out. I would really like to see jeff mills there, and not just in the crowd, on the stage baby dazelling me with the 1,2,3's! i hope the visuals are tastefully done and not over saturated with unecessary loops of inappropriate commercials during an artistic performance (in between performances is okay, if you really HAVE to.). i also hope the main thoroughfare doesn't become a noisef_k of bass from stacks in every tent. there HAS to be some sort of limitations on that. I dont mind the ads, but the extra sound tent are just bull sh*t, no other way to explain it. every record label does't need to have dj zxy his new record. I just think if ou playing at the demf you should be on one of the stages and not in a side tent, save it for an after party. I was so p*ssed last year when I went to see marco c. and all I could hear was every other stage. I guess having the aztec pyrimid closed really made it for a conjested event; both sound and people. there are many many other things i'd like to see happen, but i'm happy with the outcome and i sincerely hope that they buckle up, shut up, put their heads down, work their tails off and present a festival unlike anything detroit's seen yet. I wounder if the PEMF is going off this year? scotto lansing, mi.

electronic boutique weds 2pm-4pm est www.channelzonline.org todays show has lots of electro sounds, and some techno for good measure. the mixes are by Scotto (me/lansing, mi) and Cyborg K (dave/k-zoo, mi). my (first mix 30 min) mix has some new records I picked over and had to play, one of my favorites is the black phuture communication and the low-fi sounding double-dutch. theres some UR cuts like electronic warfare and afrogermanic, my favorite cybotron cut cosmic radience to finnish it up. daves mixs (second mix 70 min) is a mix of electro and techno, very smooth. theres some kraftwerk, ur, and octive one off the top of my head. I have done more production work for this semester, like adding the funny movie quotes. anyone who want to do a shout out can. always looking for ways to make the show more fun. just record and send me the mp3. my mail box can handle small files and a 10- 20 second mp3 should not be that big. always looking for dj/producers email if your interested in making a set for the show. scotto lansing, mi.
Re: (313) re: tone arm settings (height)
I am woundering if there is difference in the height of the tone arm? there is that dial around the base of the mount and it raises or lowers the arm. will this damage your records if it is not set right? scotto lansing, mi. ps. I have stanton trackmaster needles. no, zero is supposed to be the point at which the arm balances exactly, so you'd balance the arm as best you can (so it's suspended mid-air) then wind the inner circle around -i.e. the one with the numbers on it, not the weight itself- until it points to zero. You can then set the weight to it's recommended setting (for most stanton/orthofon this is around 2) which all being well should play the record at it's best fidelity and, of course, not grind your records down too much. Personally I always find this to be a little too light for DJing, especialy if your table is liable to shake. -s I mean the screw-mounted weight at the end of the tone arm. Often, the actual cart will indicate the correct setting to which the weight should be calibrated - meaning the numeric dial also on this weight. If not, a rough guide is simply to set the gauge to zero, i.e flush with the end of the arm, at which point the arm should balance horizontally if you've got the up/down lever in the 'up' position. _ The new MSN 8 is here: Try it free* for 2 months http://join.msn.com/?page=dept/dialup

Re: (313) One last mixer question
I really like stanton mixers. I have bought two this year one for me and a friend, both the SK-2F. I find there design to easy to use, with med. size knobs, nice smooth faders, and a very clean sound. I also like the way the EQ cuts and how powerful it is; I used a numark before. I recomend this mixer to everyone who is looking for a two channel scratch style, so I don't see why the three channel version would differ. also there price is unbeatable; I picked one up off of ebay for $150 +s/h scotto lansing, mi. As tempted as I was by the PCV-275, its lack of an adjustable crossfader curve put me off in the end. In my quest to find something that can support the more hip-hop inspired mixing style of booty with my typical techno/house mixing activities, however, I came across this, the Stanton SMX-501: http://www.stantonmagnetics.com/alpha44/mixers_smx-501.asp It seems to have pretty much every feature you'd want from a battle mixer, but at the same time has things like effects sends which would allow me to get all self-indulgent while making four-hour mix sessions comprised solely of two copies of C4 blended into one another. So this simple question is for the pessimists, nay-sayers and half-emptiers of the list: why should I *not* buy this mixer? Answers are probably best supplied off-list, though, for fear of re-starting a four-day off-topic thread... :) Brendan
Re: (313) list members music and trance...
by the way, is hawtins set on demf still online somewhere? if my memory serves right it was the only set from the demf '00 that was not archived by groovetech. I know there was a crowd recording floating around on napster when it was up but, I don't know anymore, I bet you could find it on soul seek. maybe/hopefully richie will put it on his website since there are so many other audio and video streams up there now? (hint hint minus crew) and if you have not been to the minus website as of late you should check it out there are loads of new mp3's and some videos. one of the videos has a short making of the skizofrenik video. there is one labeled demf 2000 but is a video complation with loads of pictures (one being you) set to minus-orange. go to the minus main page click media and then moving and you will have the list. scotto lansing, mi.

(cross posted) the new m-nus.com site is up. includes some hand-held video from the last 5 years, the videos done for Skizofrenik and Psyk, the La Beaute installation, richie's Radio 1 mix from earlier this month, the extended Glasgow-Arches mix that was mentioned on the site early this year, and a second Power96 mix from way back when.
Re: (313) re: best decks
personally I like the 1200's any club you play at will have these. and I personally think the 1200's have more torque. if you weight the platers of the 1200's over the vestax the tech's weigh a hell of a lot more. so the tech's engine has to not only move the weight of the record but also that plater. maybe not more torque but the engine is stronger. scotto lansing, mi. OK, this is a little off-topic but... I'm leaning toward the Vestax for the longer pitch control and higher torque, but I'm interested to know the list's opinion. Of the people who've used both, what do people prefer the Vestax PX2000 or Technics (probably 1200 Mk3 if I can find any)? ta -s _ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
RE: (313) re: best decks
it may not be faster, but IMO it is safer, when you are speading up a record by hand sometimes they slip and then you are no longer just a quarter beat behind but an unknown amount of beats ahead. I just reciently learned how to do this where I feel comfortable doing it in front of people and I think it makes a mix smoother. there are less jagged edges in the mix. I still resort to the speed up or drag when I'm getting the track close in my head phones, but I try to use the pitch for matching when I'm mixing. I still touch the record if I have to, like when I really blow the mix. (lol) scotto lanisg, mi ps. I would like to thank jim bishop trent abbey for taking the time and teaching the tricks. I don't see how it can possibly be faster - if the record is too slow you must move the pitch control too far in order to overcompensate and then shift it back down once its caught up whereas if you touch the record you can just give it a nudge and adjust the pitch control which is instant.
RE: (313) minus screan saver
ok so my windows is not in error, which I though it could have been. the apple one works fine, so 3/4 of my 'puters now have the dragon fly wings. but I personally like the plaztikman screan saver a more, but it's not made for a mac (boh!) if you want to d/l it you can at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pibt/files/ Where can I find it? it's in the ad for the third something for the season, the new hawtin/vath mix cd due to be released next tuesday. it's in the third page of the ad. the ad is a flash page so i don't know how to rip the url out of it (if I can, I really dislike flash) and to comment on the cd. I like it. I have heard it a few time, and it is a very nice mix, it met most of my expations. I was expecting a few more electro type tracks, but it's very solid and smooth mixing. scotto lansing, mi. Re: (313) ghostly in lansing 11/9
just wanted to say I had a great time at the show, the ghostly crew know how to rock, the temple club right. got a couple of new records there. the new disconeuvo release is really hot, I'm groovin on the dmx crew and the legowelt cuts, I feel this addeum is the best in the series. the dabryne (sp?) I think it is a remix of the 2x12 that was released this summer, but anyway it has a prefuse 73 track on it that is just sick. The other cuts are are just as solid. thanks sam, matt, todd, tad for a memorable night scotto lansing, mi.

(313) BNR 250 (was:[313] rockin' doubles.)
speaking of doubles. I was digging through some of my older banging records last night and I noticed that two (People's Revolution and a other cut on the other record) of the tracks on BNR 250 Jay Denham's People's Revolution, sound very much like the same song. more so then the other two tracks on that release that have that high end synth in them. does any one know if this is the same song? the label names it as a different track but they sound the same, to the point where they do the double phasing deal. scotto lansing, mi. ps. hand in phone and bells are probally my favorite double's to rock hi folks. i was palying around with two copies of dbx, losing control... it's a good thing. the more out of synch the beats get, the more appropriate the phrasing of the track becomes. i'm losing control. can anyone recommend other D tracks that are fun to toy with? peace, lrh

I guess I will do some advertising for this, since the club has decided not to for some reason, though I'm not suprised, temple club (up here in lansing) is so disorganized. artists: matt d tadd m tood o snipped from www.templeclub.com This Saturday Night, Ghostly Records presents a night of intelligent electronic music. Thats the Way the Cookie Crumbled For this Kid... Featuring Todd Osborne, Matthew Dear and Tadd Mullinix as James Cotton. Door open at 9 PM. 21+ is $5 and 18+ is $10. end snip I dont know about the rest of you (lansing residents and performers who come here), but I have noticed an increasing lack of respect from temple club twords most things techno. I cant figure it out because the gen. manager of the club made his mark in lansing doing a techno club night. they dont advertise and they dont have diversaty in there artists. they have not even asked one of lansing top dj's to play. it seems unless you are part of cc tech or a top 40ish dj your just not welcome IMO.
