Re: (313) Where to purchase Sistrum Recording tracks digitally?
I had this problem with trying to buy Laurent Garnier's "Public Outburst" and I tried every store I could find to no avail. Andrew Duke tried to buy it as well and apparently Canada is out of bounds too. Is it possible that they are just not licensed for online sale in the US or North America, period? Also, I've been playing once a month at an indoor/outdoor bar called the Lounge in Surry Hills, Friday nights post-work drinks. Think I'm back there again in late May. I went back to Adelaide to do a gig late last year and it was going on at a place called Minke. If you can catch HMC in Adelaide, he'll be throwing it down. The catch is that he's not playing much anymore. Melbourne, Honkytonks and probably Soul'sa (if it's still running), check out the GoBang! nights at Suede with Jason Martin, Askew and others. Also, Jason Martin plays back room at Revolver... Martino can you fill in the details? Best bets for a boogie woogie coming up in Sydney is May 10 at Mad Racket. Tom Clarke is guesting. Yes I agree.. I have the 5x5 one and it's working well so far for storage. As for having 'readily available' records upright and fast to flip through for DJing at home, I'm working on building a custom piece based on some of the best bins I've seen in record stores, etc. The kind that split the record about halfway and are slightly angled in the front and back for easy flipping. The shelves like this Ikea are great for storage but not so great for easy/fast access if you're trying to get your mix on... and I'm trying to reduce the # of crates lying around as possible, but there will always be some, ha ha peace, Matt MacQueen

(313) Subject: Re: (313) Where do you keep all your records?
I've seen similar boxes to those MDF ones on the link in some record stores - they were very shabby in construction and were quite expensive - I couldn't see why people would buy them... If you want something as basic as that get some MDF and borrow a drill and make them yourself for a few quid each... I think it was only a while back this discussion came up but anyway... At home I store about 1000 records in Ikea's Expedit bookcase http://www.ikea.co.uk/product_presentation/show.asp?productnumber=9711&type=III&id=3039,3078 - they only show the 4x4 one on the website but there is 5x5 one too (records take up just over half of the unit). Its very strong and sturdy and I am very happy with it. I reckon you can store 50-100 records comfortably in each section meaning you can in theory get 2500 records in the 5x5 unit, but remember that is going to be a huge weight so think about it if you are not on solid concrete! The rest of my records (about 10,000+) I store in a rented storage unit which (1) I feel is more secure than keeping everything at home (2) having avoided having to move with all these records once has provided itself very useful (3) I don't reckon the weight of all these records upstairs is good for the house! In the unit I use cheap shelving units from DIY stores (Homebase and Wickes) which were about gbp20 each and store round about 1000 records each. Unsorted stuff I put temporarily in plastic crates which I got at gbp1 each on Milton Keynes market about 4-5 years ago and are still going strong! David

I've got the Expedit shelves from Ikea. http://www.ikea.com.au/prod_template4.asp?product_id=9711&se_id=37&page_id=2243300251009&Cat=13&Scat=55 Mine aren't exactly the same. Mine are the 5x5 compartment ones. Not too bad. They've a bit flimsy during a move, but if you aren't going to move too often they'll be fine. marsel said: > > i use these as well > > very good, and cheap and expandable > > - Original Message - > From: "Andrew" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <313@hyperreal.org> > Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2003 1:35 PM > Subject: Re: (313) Where do you keep all your records? > > >> Ikea do these shelves called 'Ivar' - my friends are always impressed >> when they see them for the first time! Re: (313) Where do you keep all your records?
I'm currently in the process of designing a new mixing console cum record storage shelf L shaped sort of thingI want something truly custom and by building it myself it's not going to be all that expensive (or so I hope;). What I've been using are metal food service shelves, like these: http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=AM&Category_Code=G 12-1-1 You can configure them for your needs, they come apart when/if you move and are VERY strong. Here's my tip: get them at a local restaurant supply place and they're dirt cheap. Laters, m*

Re: (313) Where do you keep all your records?
I buy these unfinished solid pine boxes that are made for 12" records from a store called the Unpainted Place http://www.unpaintedplace.com/ I don't see the boxes on their website but I think they still make them - although I might have been the only person still buying them. Some have dividers and some are wide open. They stack on top of each other and you can finish them however you like (paint, stain, etc.). Each box holds somewhere around 200-300 records. I've got six boxes and ran out of room in our living room for any more - but when we move into a house or larger flat then I'll need a few more. Until then I'm using all the available space around the boxes and keeping some in record bags. Re: (313) Where do you keep all your records?
I actually just had a big oak shelf custom made to get my records off the floor. Was relatively cheap - the oak matches my house - and the store that made it knew enough about records to know how thick to make the wood so that it would support the weight of records and not buckle or anything. The shelf only holds about 1,000 records and I have the rest on another, older rickety shelf but I was able to get everything off of the floor. Re: [313] where the %^&^ is Clutch Cargoes?????
I think the easiest way would be I-75 north all the up to M-59 west. This will take you right into Pontiac ...M59 crosses Wide Track just as you come into town and just after you cross it, you have to turn left and go up to a light to catch it again (M59 is one way from the other direction, so you have to do a little jog to rejoin it where it is again two-way). The church of which you speak is right there on your left as you make that turn. Basically you should look for parking as soon as you cross Wide Track. If you can find none there, you can always go up to the light (which is M59 = Huron Street), turn right and then take the first left. There's a public lot down about a block or so on your right. jeff Jeff Sanford wrote: > sorry for the off-topic post, but I wonder if some kindhearted 313 local > might tell me how to get from the Ambassador bridge to Clutch Cargoes. Well... First you go down the street, then you make that one turn. After that you'll want to go down a ways until you see Big Willie, he'll be standin' on the corner. Don't ask him for directions 'cause he doesn't know how to get there. You keep goin a few miles until you come to the freeway. Don't get on it. You went too far, turn around and go back 'till you see a big street. You wanna go north. Drive for like 20 minutes and you'll be close. You'll come to another big street, make a left. You'll be lost now. Ask someone for directions. I couldn't resist. :) Jeff Sanford <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on 03/09/2001 10:13:07 AM To: <313@hyperreal.org> cc: Subject: [313] where the %^&^ is Clutch Cargoes? sorry for the off-topic post, but I wonder if some kindhearted 313 local might tell me how to get from the Ambassador bridge to Clutch Cargoes. Re: [313] where circles begin
'Where circles begin' came out about two months ago (at least here in Ontario), great record. In related Tejada news I would suggest running and finding '6 hits of Sunshine on Pallete, by Tejada and Leviste. By far his best outing to date IMHO including all the early Pallete stuff he did.
