Tried to search with 'Rahman rhythm' in NDTV's search box. I'm getting firewall for that. I think they havnt updated their website yet. If you come to know any program on him, please update that info here. BTW, i found a poll going on at http://www.ndtvmusic.com/, asking 'Can A R Rehman cast his spell in 2007?', with options 'yes', 'no' and 'can't say'. No need to say, he is reigning on 'yes' with 82% votes. Is NDTV planning to interview him shortly? GV Prakash is such a wonderful music director and of course talented enough..How come we can consider him as an egoist?? he is still young and you can't expect him to behave like our Guru..Of course he owe ARR a lot..maybe he wanted to avoid using ARR's name because of the fact that people will accuse him living under his uncle's fame..But still he said ARR is the best in the interview rite..Even ARR said it was Manirathnam who brought him all the way..He mentioned IR name in a few occasions only..It doesnt mean that there is no respect..It is more towards individuality...Come on guys..let the master and his sister's son deliver their mesmerizing music for us to enjoy..Long live ARR.. - Original Message From: Vinu aryan [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, 4 March, 2007 9:03:50 PM Subject: Re: [arr] GV Prakash's interivew-he not told anythi! [arr] Re: disappointed after heard the GV Prakash's interivew-he not told anything abt ARR
This total topic seems wrong. If you will only appreciate others with the assumption that they will be a boaster for someone you appreciate even more, then you can never be objective. GVP is 19 and seems like he has some talent. And reading his interview, he seems hardworking and independent minded. There is nothing wrong with that. If he were out their using his uncle's name for work, and wasn't such a big hit, everyone would be bad-mouthing him in that way. Appreciate his work. He doesn't need to always go around having a statement for others. Same goes for ARR, or any other artist. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, kannanmania [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: hi guys. i think some of the ur'll are over-reacting. GVP is a good man. He's young. [arr] an incident in a store in LA about PFMB
Hi friends, Yesterday i had gone to one of the indian music stores in LA called Raaga, for checking out Pray for me brother cd-dvd pack. When i asked the owner he was confused for a second and then realised what i wanted. He went to the shelves and pulled out the cd of a new movie called 'Big Brother' by sunny deol and priyanka. i was amused and told him about PFMB and how bharat bala and AR Rahman were involved in this venture. He had no clue about it and was surprised that Rahman was a part of it and he didnt know it. For that matter he didnt know who were Bharat Bala. Whats surprising is this video was shot in major areas of Los angeles and i can't even find this cd in a music store in the same place. I don't know if there is any marketing strategy involved in limited release or is it just poor marketing campaign. On a brighter note, the store was filled with Guru posters as its DVD is releasing this week and many people were putting pre-orders on it. Also Guru audio was top 2 in their top ten list, behind dhoom 2 ( i guess coz the movie is smash hit) and ahead of Salaam-e-ishq. Krishh
[arr] Rehman to tap talent amongst the disabled
http://www.ndtvmusic.com/story.asp?id=6120 *Rehman to tap talent amongst the disabled* Two disabled vocalists are lucky to get an opportunity to sing with music director AR Rehman. While Rehman has brought many new faces to the music, he is now keen to tap the musical talent of disabled persons. It's an annual ability award that recognises the spirit of achievement by disabled people, but Rahman proved a point. While his concert mesmerised the audience, the vocalists who accompanied him were two disabled artists. Rehman says he is now determined to tap the musical talent among the disabled. I think in India there are scores of such talented artists. I want to spot at least two such artists every year, said Rehman. The disability has not affected the motivation of the award winners, said M Karunanidhi, Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu. For the award winners it was an opportunity to inspire other disabled people and to motivate them to dream beyond their personal triumph. There might be obstacles, but if we have the determination we can overcome all, said Anjali Arora, Ability Award Winner. Life is not counting on what we don't have but looking at what we have, said Neha Bansal, Ability Award Winner. The spirit of the award has a message for all that often disability is not in the body but in the mind.
[arr] Rahman inspires disabled singers - CNN-IBN VIDEO
Video: http://www.ibnlive.com/videos/35131/rahman-inspires-disabled-singers.html News: http://www.ibnlive.com/news/rahman-inspires-disabled-singers/35131-8.html *Chennai:* Veteran music director A R Rahman performed at Cavinkare Ability Awards in Chennai, an annual event that recognises talents of the disabled people. If they focus, they can perform better than normal people. It doesn't matter if they are visually impaired or suffer from other disability. They can deliver better than a normal person, said Rahman. The young talented singers felt encouraged with Rahman's words. When I got to know that I was supposed to sing with him, it was a pleasant surprise. It was like a dream come true, said a visually Impaired participant Heeru Chandnani. However, the musical maestro was cagey when asked about his plans for the differently-abled singers. There are lot of plans, I won't say anything, said Rahman. The event was also attended by Tamil Nadu CM M Karunanidhi and film actress Revathi. It was definitely a night to remember for the special people, who felt it was a dream opportunity.
[arr] stoic silence!!
Shankar's stoic silence! By Moviebuzz | Tuesday, 06 March , 2007, 09:26 There are 40 days left for the release of Rajnikanth's AVM big budget extravaganza Sivaji. However director Shankar has not uttered a word about the release date or anything regarding the film! No press material or even the audio launch of the film has taken place! Shankar believes in the old saying Silence is golden. According to sources close to Shankar, he will speak only when the film is ready for release. The buzz is that graphics and special effects are still to be completed, and re-recording is yet to start. A.R Rahman takes a long time in re-recording, and Shankar too is known to spend days on a single reel! Added to that there are rumours that Shankar and Rahman would prefer doing the work in London, where they will not be disturbed or be under any kind of pressure. Remember Shankar's earlier producer Oscar Ravichandran, kept on announcing the release date of Anniyan, which he had to keep on postponing, as the director was not ready with the final copy! Finally when Shankar was ready, he himself told Ravi to release it on a particular Friday (June 17, 2005). Shankar kept to his lucky number 8 (1+7) and the rest as they say is history, as the film turned out to be a blockbuster! No wonder they call Shankar the Big- P. The perfectionist who provides paisa-vasool movies to the public, but is a pain for the producer! His style of working has been like that from his Gentlemandays and all big banners had to grin and bear it. Shankar is perhaps the most successful commercial film director in India. He has an awesome strike rate of nearly 100 percent at the box-office; all his films have made money for its producers. In a career spanning 14 years he has directed only 7 films in Tamil which literally means a film every two years. It clearly shows the man's sincerity, passion and dedication to his work. For Shankar,Sivajiis special, as it was his dream to do a film with Rajnikanth. A few years back he had written the Muthalvan script keeping the superstar in mind. As a creator he visualizes each and every scene and is particular that what he has in mind be put on celluloid. It is a tight rope walk as Sivaji is concerned, as it is a tough job to balance what his script demands and the superstar's screen image plus the huge expectations from his fans. Actually Shankar has completed the entire shoot of the talkie portion and five songs of the film in 13 months, which is very fast by his standards. After all, at the end of the day it is a Shankar film, and there is a method in his making of the mega budget movie. The onus is on him to make it a blockbuster, and it is not fair to hurry him up. After waiting patiently all these months, a few more weeks to watch Sivaji does not make much difference! - Make free worldwide PC-to-PC calls. Try the new Yahoo! Canada Messenger with Voice
[arr] Hi Group
Hello. This is Pinak from Pune. I'm a professional musician myself, I play keyboards and synthesizers. I have completed 4 levels in Western classical music, and still studying. But more than all that, I'm huge lover of A. R. Rahman and his music! He is just amazing. I love his music, even though I do not understand Tamil or Telugu or any other south Indian language. My friend Amith Chandran told me about this wonderful group. I hope I'll get to read some valuable and nice discussions here, and you all will accept me as a humble lover of A. R. Rahman and his music! Thanks. Have a good day.

[arr] Re: disappointed after heard the GV Prakash's interivew-he not told anything abt
Influence is hard to see in hindsight. IR brought village sounds to Tamil film music in a big way. Before him it wasn't that common, but he brought a certain rusticness to many of his films. Bharathiraja too brought that rusticness to his films, complemented by IR's music. And IR definitely did some interesting things with Western sounds, jazz, fusion, and strings. A lot of his songs would fall into a monotonous and even predictable pattern but he has produced many amazing numbers. Please do not expect any artist to do what an artist after him did. That is like expecting Buddy Holly to have done what the Beatles did years later. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, n_kumaar [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: its ok if you talk about ar but plz stop comparing him to Illairaaja. If you want to know the reason try listening to tamil music from 50s till now and u will know the difference. stop degrading others. true ar fan won't do that. ARR is no way related to IR in musical terms except the fact that both of them are musical directors. ARR's approach was 100% unique. he got rid of some monotonic use of instruments that IR was constantly using (according to me IT SUCKED BIG TIME i hate them).. ARR gave a new touch even to village woven story and songs.. take for example uzhavan, karuthama, kizhaku seemaiylae, tajmahal... ARR's touch in any album is just extra ordinary and brilliant; and most importantly NOT like the previous ageMD's.. remember the filmfare's encomiums on ARR: Every music director in this age is definitely a clone of ARR. and not the viceversa.. On 3/4/07, kanchi143 kanchi143@ wrote: I am strongly opposing your comment. First main thing is, IR is not a relative for ARR. Second thing is, ARR came up his own talent and credits. ARR doesnt know anybody in the industry other than IR initially. But GVP case is different, hes a close relative of ARR. do you know how many GVPs are there without getting a chance. GVP cant entered in this field without ARRs fame. Why shankar gave him a chance, bcos he knows GVP thru ARR and additional thing is his relative. and he worked anniyan etc.., so basically hes a known guy to shankar due to ARR. Once shankar utilised him in his movie, then others started using him. i am not saying GVP is bad or something, hes doing good. we have to wish him to grow bcos hes from our boss family. but our concern is, he should express his inspiration in the interview. i am once again saying hes here in the industry (200%) definetly due to inspiration of ARR. he didnt expressed that in the interview. that was our disappointment. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com arrahmanfans% 40yahoogroups.com, Sam samsinging@ wrote: This is utter nonsense.
